I've been reluctant to implement this rule, but the forum's growing size makes it necessary:

In the end this rule acknowledges that it's better for some guys to lurk instead of post. In no way does not mean we don't help newbies, for they are the forum's future, but agitators must go, especially if they don't respect the guidance and advice of the senior members. Those who break the cool rule will not be banned, but will not be able to post.

This is a good time to refresh everyone on all the rules (especially number six):

2. Use the forum search engine. It really works! I want to punch myself in the balls every time someone asks a question that was already answered a billion times. Don't be lazy--poke around first before you start a new thread.

3. No race baiting. It's okay to talk about race if that's the topic, but no geo-political discussions on why one race is superior or inferior to another or why an upcoming race war in X country will be bad. This is not a forum for political discussion.

4. No spamming. Do not register solely to promote your "seduction" product. Do not post a link to a commercial site the same day you register. You get zero benefit of the doubt.

5. Defer to the senior members, who helped make the forum what it is. Don't come out guns blazing trying to start petty arguments with everyone to show you're a baller who can get laid no matter the time, place, etc. Take it easy after you register until you get a feel for the flow of the forum.

6. Your username and posts are permanent. If you want a new username, you'll have to re-register. Keep in mind that you can be easily tracked via Google if you use the same username on other forums, so consider that before hitting the register button (accounts can not be deleted like they can on Facebook). Also, after posting you have 60 minutes to make edits. After that, it's there forever. Don't post identifying or sensitive information.

7. Don't drag private disputes into public threads. If someone made a comment that offended you, call him out via a private message and resolve it like adults. Don't hijack a thread to settle whatever beef you have with someone.

8. No girls. Their opinions or comments are not welcome here unless they post a naked picture of their body with a sign that says 'Roosh'.

I really like this rule.

Thread-quality has really been on my mind lately. I think there has definitely been an influx of lower-quality threads with the spike in newbies. While they're an important part of the forum's healthy growth, they also can--uncontrolled--have a deleterious effect. One of the amazing parts of this community is how troll- and bullshit-free it is--all things considered.

I think everyone--even veteran members--should ask themselves the question, "does this bring value to the forum?" An overwhelming majority of us do already, I know. Even though every thread isn't going to be a blockbuster--and shouldn't be--it also shouldn't take away, by irritating other members or luring their resources into junk topics or repeats.

This rule forces that small minority that doesn't currently take this into consideration into doing so. The penalty is appropriate.

A little distinction - while most of the bad posts may be coming from newcomers (or the sucky posters are mostly newcomers), I don't think it's because they're new. Some people just suck, and writing shitty posts is what they do. People who rite lik dis don't bloom into the next Henry James via exposure to the forum. Some times I see posts I like, and the poster has a very low post count, or late start date.

Maybe you could encourage people to use the ignore button, and see who is ignored most. That's still only a rough guide though. Or lower the "being a dick" threshold for suspensions/banning.

Edit: I haven't been perusing the Game section as much, so may have a skewed view.

I think the problem is newcomers aren't reading through the various threads, old and new, before they start posting and/or creating new threads. I lurked forever in the forum before I registered, but read through tons of old threads first to get an idea of what was going on here. I think encouraging that, as well as familiarizing yourself with the search function should address the issue of some of these weak threads. Contribute to some of the established threads before starting new ones, even if it means bumping an old thread every now and then.

Same here. I lurked for months before joining and then posted very carefully after joining. I also read or skimmed a sizeable portion of the threads up to that point. I guess it's just too much to expect from the average guy--especially a beta or newbie crazed with one-itis and wanting an immediate answer to his desperate problem.

No. It doesn't mean we can't debate and disagree. It just means guys should refrain from personal attacks, name calling, internet tough-guy nonsense and the like. It shouldn't be that hard to have civil discussions. If a particular thread doesn't interest you, skip over it, but don't come into a thread and say it's stupid, or try to disrupt it.

Also, I agree with the influx of lower quality threads. I used to be new to game too, so I don't have anything against the jump in newbies, but I am noticing that I am doing more digging around on the forum to find the quality threads.

I think that maybe a "set" of rules and beliefs should be stated so that each thread is related to the beliefs. If anything, there seems to be different views on the core beliefs (myself included), like....

- society perception vs. Hollywood influence vs. cultural beliefs
- game vs. money
- height/weight/age/mindset of desired women
- method of travel, length of trips, way of life during travel

Of course EACH PERSON thinks that their set of beliefs are the "gold standard" so that also leads to a lot of crazy threads

I think the assistant mods should have the power to move naff threads (wack threads) into the newbie folder.
If one does a search, they don't have to include the newbie folder in their search.
Or to even go further, one could have a played out folder and the wack threads go into there.
No debate, no ranting. Just a gentle, hey dude, that topic is played out so it's been moved to the played out folder.

That keeps the searching clearer and more specific.

You can already search in an individual forum, do you mean having the ability to search all of the forums but exclude the newbie forum? If you were to do that it'd make more to sense to have a check box system in place for each forum so we can mix and match any combination(s) that you wish.

Yes that would be great. The second mod would just filter stuff no hassle, speedread it, determine that it is trite and channel it to the other forum.
