By no means are the majority on here standard tourists as people don't really seem to go to visit the sights, I wouldn't say people were 'sex tourists' either as that to me implies people who go abroad to pay for whores, very few people seem to be holidaymakers or backpackers either. So what do you consider yourself as?

Just curious.

I'd consider myself a legitimate tourist. I enjoy taking in the other cultures/history, scenery, sites, nightlife, etc., whenever I travel.

But in keeping with the theme of the thread...

I only go places that have some kind of cultural or historical significance...so far. I prefer countries/cities where there is something to see or do, so that the success of the trip doesn't rest on me simply getting laid. I've done London, Rome and the Yucatan in Mexico, and I have a standing offer to come through Paris whenever I want. I'd like to do the ancient civilizations tour, meaning I still have Greece, Egypt and Asia to go. I haven't attempted to pipeline those locations, but I will. In between, I'll hit places in the Caribbean, because they're close to New York, don't require a lot of planning, and can be done over a long weekend.

For now, I'd label myself a "Carnal Archaeologist"

I'm a sexual Tyrannosaurus marking territory. I drink and fuck. If I want see artifacts I'll google image them. I pontificate, plan, and execute lay strategies with extreme prejudice. I think outside the box, so standing in line for an hour to see something that 5M people has seen before me isn't appealing. Gaining deep understanding of the culture to bed the women is. I'll go see a broke ass urn when I'm 55.

Is that a shallow way to travel? Probably. Do I give a fuck? No.

Never understood the value of traveling just to see sights. I think that most people make "sight seeing" trips so that they can brag about it to other people and post pictures on their Facebook walls.

A successful trip would look like this for me, an example:

Go to Eastern Romania, collect info locally and start visiting small local winemakers in the Dobrogea and Tulcea regions, keep tasting until you stock the car for bargain prices. Check out the local scene in a minor city along the way and invest in a local network, this is absolutely crucial. Go visit ancient Greek sites near the Black Sea Coast (mentioned in the Ilyad or the story of the Argonauts, I forgot), make sure you will be guided by the locals in their free time along with their pretty sisters, have someone play the guitar or otherwise build a small open air party, bring along a generous quantity of your wine, bang a girl somewhere in the ancient ruins of Argamom overlooking the water (unforgettable archeological experience). Later, proceed to the delta of the Danube river, close to Ukraine, focus on stocking thoroughly illegal caviar at bargain prices from the fishermen of the Russian minority who live there, get invited to drinking, sauna, get introduced to their pretty sisters and work to get laid again. Get back to Dobrogea region, negotiate organic lamb from the sheperds, stock some more wine (both for bargain prices), get back to Bucharest and organize a decadent party with your contacts and get laid once more. For optimal results, you'll need spare time and social/language skills.

Destinations should have an acceptable ratio of girls x party x fine food x drinks x cultural/natural attractions.

As a couple others have said I do consider myself a bit of a tourist too as I do go to see sights, nature, museums, galleries, learn about the history & culture etc as well as enjoying the girls and nightlife. I think it's kind of narrow minded to totally write that stuff off and if 5 million people have gone to see something that's probably because it's well worth seeing.

The City of Petra ages much slower than 20 y.o. manky bitches. Time is against us my friends. Make the most of it.

My cultural interest is getting off the beaten path and understanding what makes people really tick in that country, and proving wrong what we see from the media.

So for now, I'll continue to:

PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR
SING LIKE A POPSTAR
FUCK LIKE A PORNSTAR....
and SHINE LIKE A SHOOTING STAR!!!!!

Fuck the rest.

You can call yourself whatever, but when a girl asks you why you're staying, any answer besides "I live here for work" will dry up the pussy.

I suppose the closest would be a long-stay tourist. I just visit economically fucked countries and try knob as many natives as I can.

If I girl asks why I am in Ukraine I say because it's cheap and there's pretty girls.

Vagabundo da Holanda ( in Brazil )

World traveler

I still try to visit the main sites and places but i'm tired of seeing the same shit all the time. How many churches, jungle, squares, historic streets and whatever can a man see for 2.5 years in a row. Girls however never bore me.

I only visit museums related to war or military history. Not into local artifacts and pottery.

Local girls teach you more about local culture than a travel book. Most of the times i visit places with girls that most regular tourists don't see.

Book - Around the World in 80 Girls - The Epic 3 Year Trip of a Backpacking Casanova

My new book Famles - Fables and Fairytales for Men is out now on Amazon.

If there's any words of wisdom to be taken from the writings of Roosh, this is it.

This is why from now on I'll rent apartments, no matter the cost. It's also helped me come up with a bullet proof cover story as to why I'm there in the first place.

Machu Picchu translates into English as "Mucho Pussy." I'm down to see that.
