This is so cringe worthy and in poor taste.

Mayweather's money isnt monopoly money like McGregors.

How are Rumble Johnson and Jon Jones going to fight for an interim belt when DC is currently holding the LHW belt. Shouldn't it just be for number one contender status? The UFC has gone crazy. Conor has no intention of going back to 145 and he wont relenquish the belt, now he leapfrogs the entire LW division and gets a title shot.

Yeah I'm not sure how that works either. It's beginning to remind me of all the different types of champions in boxing (regular, iterim, super, etc.). It's different than boxing though, in that the UFC was smart enough to buy up any of the possible competing promotions, and no third party sanctioning bodies.

The McGregor/Stephen shutdown is even funnier -- seeing everyone's reaction.

I think this is sad...UFC by each passing day is looking more like WWE.

How I miss Pride FC... Emelianenko, Hendo, Big Nog, Wanderlei, Cro Cop, Shogun, Arona, Rampage, Bustamante, Sakuraba, Randleman, Kharitonov, and so on....Less talk and more fight, soccer kicks, stomps to the head, knees to downed opponents...those where the MMA brutal and glorious days...

Every time one of the active veterans from that era fights, he is automatically my favorite, no matter what (Barnett, Werdum, Hendo, Shogun, Overeem, Belfort, Anderson Silva, Mousassi, Little Nog...). Much respect from me.

I dont disagree with him at all. UFC is choosing to parade an irish midget 24/7 instead of act like a professional sport.

Good for him, he deserves a title shot and if he needs to do it through another organisation so be it. I would imagine he'll be joining Rory, Ben and Chael over at Belator. Which seems to be beefing up its roster by the day, all be it with mostly older fighters. Rory is the exception though, still in his prime and still a world beater.

Is anyone else considering the possibility of a flood of UFC fighter's making the transition simply due to Belator's lax testing procedures? With the UFC making it near impossible to use PED's through USADA, they could be shooting themselves square in the bollucks.

As an example of how rigorous Belator's testing procedures are, I present to you Bobby Lashley

For any you Pride fans out there you may find yourself drawing comparisons with him and and the 'great' Bob Sapp. I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing Belator as a legitimate competitor with the UFC in the coming years and not just MMA's red headed step child.

BTW
Bobby Lashley is not a good example of top class MMA competitor just an example of how stringent testing is outside the UFC. And for guys who have been on gear they're whole career who are now suddenly told stop the train, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them jump ship

While I agree with you that the UFC is becoming more of a spectacle sport that was always the goal. Dana and the Fertitta brother's based their business model off WWE from the start. They've been dreaming of a fighter like Conor. And braggadocios as he is he puts on great fights so where is the harm?

And as far as Pride goes do you not recall the how much pagentry was involved with each event? The walk ins were as close to WWE as you could get

There was certainly less talking (maybe because the host nation spoke a different language than most of the fighters) and the fights were insane, but they were not of a higher calibre. Also there was quite a few back handers going on. The classic example being Coleman vs. Takada (who was a pro-wrestler).

I'm certainly not trying to shit all over Pride, I'm a Pride fan. But Pride was not the glory days of MMA, it was the glory days of unregulated PED use (which I'm also a fan of). The best time in MMA is right now.

You can only opt out of a UFC contract by refusing to fight, if Aldo goes elsewhere it cant be for MMA fighting purposes. I mean he could still be a greeter at a Brazillian WalMart.

RE: Any of you guys MMA fans?
So with the recent purchase of the UFC by WME-IMG (Ari Emmanuel's company), it looks like some major changes are ahead of us. In the last few days, several fighters, including GSP, have asked for release from their contracts; 15% of the employees have been laid off; and WME-IMG are beginning to "bring in their own people". With a Hollywood entertainment company such as WME-IMG, you have to wonder how things will change. My thought is that the same poisons that have affected Hollywood in recent years will start to creep into the sport. It'll be more than ever a "rich get richer" with the star fighters getting access to more film and commercial roles. What do you guys think will change?

P.S., a little background for some of you that may not know: Ari Emmanuel is the real life guy that Ari Gold - Jeremy Piven's character in Entourage - is based on. In addition, he's the brother of Rahm Emmanuel, who was the chief of staff under Obama for some time and is the current mayor of Chicago.

Civilize the mind but make savage the body.
