I just saw a great fight. Cub Swanson vs. Choi. Just trading blows. Both these guys are going to be sore for Christmas. Fight of the night maybe of the year.

Anyone watching UFC 207? Vegas had Ronda as a slight favorite earlier today. I'd like to to see her win, but I got Amanda Nunes with a 1st round KO.

I find it harder to pick a winner in womens MMA, simply because the fighters are all so uniformly mediocre.

Rousey is a rubbish striker and there are serious question marks over what sort of headspace she is in, vs Nunes who is supposedly a fast-starting heavy hitter...though in reality she'd have her hands full with any regional competition level teenage boy. Neither is the complete package, neither excites and it's hard to have belief in eithers ability to deliver.

I wish the UFC would quit pretending these womens bouts are main event worthy. I'm just not interested in who wins this one, I'll probably just fast forward through it, like I do with most fights in the womens divisions.

Whether you like her or not, you can't deny that she draws viewers and is main event worthy. It's hard for the casual fan to not be interested when she's annialating her opponents within seconds of the bell ringing, even if it's against soccer moms. The educated fan may cringe at her striking, but I'm sure they can appreciate her ground game.

I agree with you on the rest of WMMA though. 99% of female fighters skill level is elementary at best. I'm surprised they've expanding into 115 and 145 despite this being the case.

In other news, Cody Garbrandt becomes the UFCs newest star and puts on a phenomenal performace. Undefeated streak continues at 25yrs old. Hats off to him. Completely unexpected.

Both TJ vs Lineker and Cruz vs Garbrandt were great.

Garbrandt's head movement and slipping were remarkable, specially considering the caliber of his opponent's striking. Reminded me of Anderson Silva's slipping in his prime. Good for him, I'm a fan.

This weekend it's BJ Penn vs Yair Rodriguez. Any predictions ?

I'm very excited for it but also a bit nervous. BJ hasn't performed in years and his last win was in 2010 against a washed up Matt Hughes.

Rodriguez has looked amazing so far but he has been knocked out before and i think he's the kind of guy that does not need much to get put away. His boxing also did not look that great against Alex Caceres, who is not much of a boxer himself. So there is a possible weakness there.

Still, i think Rodriguez will win this one. But my heart is with BJ.

BJ should stay retired. This fight might be ugly for him.

I'm looking forward to next week's Bellator fight between Tito Ortiz and Chael Sonnen.

That Yair/BJ Penn fight was awful. An old, flabby BJ just moped around the octagon eating head kick after head kick.

He showed he's still tough, but way too slow to match it with a beast like rodriguez.

My very first match in a tournament was won with a Ezekiel choke. Its easier to do with a gi and very sneaky.

Yair Rodriguez was a tall order for someone thats been out of the ring for over two years.... This guy has a impressive kicking highlight reel for only being in the UFC for six fights. His style is pretty unique, he may end up going to the top.

Not sure how I feel about Derek Brunson being Anerdon Silvas opponent next ..month

That was an ugly fight. Always sad to see legends go out like that. Rodriguez is definitely an exciting prospect for the future, i would like to see him against Cub Swanson, that would be an amazing fight.

Silva vs Brunson is another one that is very tough to call. If Silva can avoid Brunson's rush then he has a very good chance, but will his chin hold up?

UFC 208 is a very dissapointing card, some good fights added but still not enough. I usually always buy the pay per views on fight pass but this is the first one i will be livestreaming in a very long time.
