I see a lot of members here immediately being disinterest in Astrology because it is not "scientific". The problem with a lot of people is that when viewing these sorts of stuff such as paranormal/numerology/occult/pseudoscience/etc is that they view it in a very "right/wrong", "yes/no", "black/white" kind of way. Maybe because they think in a very scientific method kind of way. I personally believe this is the wrong way to go about it, and you can't get the most of it with this kind of thinking.

If we really want to learn I think we should look at it from a philosophical perspective....kind of like:
"How is this knowledge useful to me?"
"How can this help me know about myself and others more?"
"How can I use this in everyday life to improve myself/others?"
"What is the meaning of this sentence and how does it apply to me?"
etc

I think using this perspective is beneficial in the long run in order to find our personal truth. If we do this we don't disregard anything we have been thought to disregard. Instead we search for more material, and then come to a conclusion on how it can be use. Kind of like a another tool in the box.

Yeah I don't believe in this astrology horoscope crap.

There's just too many problems with it but I'll name just a few:

- How can every human being in the world born in the same month have the exact same characteristics, personality, future and interests?

- It is mind boggling to believe that your destiny/fate is determined by hot balls of gas millions of light years away. Your fate is very much in your own hands (except in certain circumstances).

- There are 13 stellar constellations in outer space, not 12. That throws everything for a loop (meaning your sign is not actually your sign).

- Barnum effect in full force.

- Most people who believe this crap are women; they also are into yoga, palm reading, seances and other lefty new age crap.

The only thing more ridiculous is Santa Claus (at least kids grow out of that).

Every day during its Space Odyssey, the planet Earth takes a different place in Space.
That means that every day a different volume of energy reaches the planet.
Who knows whether or not this energy field is not interacting with some psychical qualities of human beings...?! Human beings have some electric field (see 'Matrix' for its usefulness).

I am a Libra. However my rising sign which is determined by the hour of birth is Scorpio, hence my screen name. For me just knowing someone's sun sign is a small part of the equation. For those of you who think it is bullshit, I don't blame you and will not argue with you. It's just that hundreds of precise horoscopes later I beg to differ, but have no problem with those of you who have no use for it.

You need an accurate birth time and location to get any type of good reading from a birth chart.

Personally, i'm quite fond of the fagan-bradley (sidereel) chart than the tropical one.

To accurately understand astrology, you need to understand the mythologies behind each planet. Once you understand that you can take the symbolic energy of each planet to understand how they play against each other.

Yep. There is no way a Muslim in Yemen or a Chinese peasant farmer (scratching a living out of the dirt) born on the same day as I, are living anywhere near the same existence.
Let alone highly tribal folk in Kenya or the Amazon.
