How does either an "April Fool's" or a real initiative to call out the desperate but lucrative height-cheats fit in? Your guess is as good as mine, but no doubt it's good fun for them.

I was expecting something more simple like showing your driver’s license. But usually men tend to add an inch and women remove 10lbs.

For the short ones like me, there’s always the option to verify your fortune on seeking arrangement. Or you know, talking to girls without having to rely on an app (if you’re not wealthy).

This is a constantly requested feature by women along with racial filters as women want to be able to filter for the top 10% of males so they can ignore the rest. Tinder may be trolling with this feature and potentially testing the waters for backlash. I believe it was intended as a joke but also to access how people respond. Don't believe for second the nerds I'm SV Tinder HQ are not seriously considering this.

Almost an interesting social experiment even here on the forum. The guys who are tall are all for it. Not surprising. The tall want credit and recognition even though we did nothing to get it, just a lucky roll of the dice. By the way I am 6'4 but really I think it's no big deal being this tall. Its helped with girls sometimes but not always. I've lost girls to shorter guys who had better job/game/looks than me. In the end I believe no verification please as we all need to fudge a bit here or there. I'm tall but need to fudge a bit on the age. You younger guys got some good things going for you but need to fudge a bit on the height, i get it. We all need a little give somewhere.

Listening to the radio the other day (UK) I overheard an advert for a phone carrier giving Tinder Gold bundled into the packet you get.

It really is beta bucks at this point.

It wasn't a joke. It was a calculated testing of the waters. This will be implemented within the year. They were checking for backlash. That's it. Stop using/paying for Tinder period. If you are 5'8" you are literally funding them to help 6'0" + dudes get laid for free. Dead horse, but swipe culture is the death of traditional relationships.

Here is the thing, though.

If you remove all the shorter guys and make the dating pool all tall guys, then women will be pickier within that pool, only wanting the tall pretty boys who earn a lot. Most tall guys won't win because the average tall guy becomes the short guy by default when he's competing against better tall guys.

As I have written previously about smart phones, the problem is the nature of this technology itself. In person, you could talk away your lack of height, money, or cuteness by establishing yourself as something else (i.e. "music guy," "lacrosse guy"). Now you're a human driver's license -- all facts and no persona.

Technology is supposed to make our lives easier. But when "communication" technology results in fewer people actually communicating, and dating apps cause a situation where fewer people are having sex, maybe it's time to re-assess that technology.

This is getting like having a dishwasher that makes the dishes dirtier, but people are too wowed by the presence of the machine to say "This sucks."
