I hate to generalize, but drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, etc. are common in Hollywood.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he lied about his age. I enjoyed his performance on 90210 but he never looked like he was in high school. Occassionly you hear about South American baseball players doing the same thing because they can achieve a professional advantage as rookies. A 20-year old prospect who hits 275 is a lot different than a 28 year journeyman who hits 275

As some of you know, I have a story about this. Once you hit 50, you can get fucked no matter how clever you think you are. You jog daily? You can get all kinds of tendon and knee problems that can fuck you. You lift weights? You end up with heart disease. You travel frequently? Leg clots.

The point is, learn to moderate your activities, and, be aware that you can just up and die any moment. Have your affairs in order and seize the moment.

Dylan McKay was brooding but still a pretty likable character. You could tell that he'd not gotten much parenting and had basically raised himself.

Luke really brought out all the emotions on that show. Dylan may have been the most compelling character on that show and possibly the most challenging role to play. I was glad Luke had a good career after his signature role.

I've never heard of weight lifting causing heart disease. Do you have any more information on this? A quick search shows moderate weight training reduces the risk of heart issues.

I really enjoyed 90210 when it came out. I lived in LA and was a repair technician with lots of repair calls in Hollywood and Beverly Hills when this came out. After about 3-4 years, I stopped watching it. It clearly was a primetime soap opera like Dallas or Dynasty, only with high school kids.

The thing is, I've always thought of it as a guilty pleasure. I figured soap operas aren't for men, and I usually have no interest in them. It's kind of funny to me now to see that so many other guys on this board watched it and liked it, and liked Luke Perry's character so much, as I did.

I've watched the news about the lead characters over the years. Shannon Doherty getting cancer and going through some of the same things my wife has. Jason Priestley taking up racing. Tori Spelling and her reality TV show. I thought Jennie Garth was unbelievably hot in the show, and she managed to avoid the wall for a long time (although she has finally hit it). And now, Luke Perry dying.

It's funny how famous people that you've never met somehow end up being like actual long term acquaintances in your life, and you miss them and wish their families well when they pass.

Yeah, also never heard of it. Except if there is steroid abuse, then yeah, certainly multiplies the risk of heart disease or even sudden death.
