Magic Leap has gotten, what, a billion dollars in funding in a past few years to produces "this" and their VR goggles. Reading the description of the AI girl, it's very clear that she's going to be integrated into the goggles from the start.

I think you're right. VR and various physical "enhancement" devices will be adopted widely before bots -- and perhaps be even more compelling. The Elite will love this because it puts less strain on the planet. Less pollution, less consumption of manufactured goods, etc.

The sad side effect is that people will end up preferring this reality over their own real-world one. You can already see this in the way girls love to use photo beauty filters and snapchat style overlays to present themselves to the world. They delude themselves and others everyday with this fake persona and they are OK with it. And also how people get lost in a TV series while binge watching on Netflix.

The human brain can adapt to a virtual environment and quickly perceive it as real under the right conditions. The big hurdle for VR is presenting everyone with a unified space or world to interact in. I'm sure Facebook is working on that. Actually, this whole scheme is not much different than what was shown in the movie The Matrix. I think it will get to the point where people won't get as excited for real humans, as they can only get turned on by their unattainable in the real-world digital or bot preferences. Those who are disenfranchised in the sexual marketplace have always retreated into fantasy. And not just men. Women have their romance novels. Point being that pleasure is ultimately all in the mind, not the physical reality. Like that scene in The Matrix where Cypher is eating fake steak and he says "ignorance is bliss".

The idea that porn leads to "violence against women" was shot down once and for all in a landmark article from 2006 titled "How Internet Porn Prevents Rape." This article, which looks at actual data, was published by Slate (link here).

These Swedish feminists are taking their ideas from the 1980s in the U.S., back when feminists and Christians simply made up the idea that porn led to violence.

Now the Swedes are saying the same thing about sexbots: They'll lead to "violence against women." This is clearly bullshit. What they're really worried about is that sexbots will 1). Raise the standard for real life women and 2). Give men a(nother) reason not to deal with women at all.

Funny you should mention "Stepford Wives."

That term first came into being because it was the title of a 1972 novel by Ira Levin, which imagined that the nice-looking, submissive housewives in a suburban town were actually robots.

It was made into a movie a few years later and helped further fuel the women's movement of the 1970s, by redefining non-working wives as soul-less and inhuman. In one scene, a female photographer does some research and find the housewives were once feminist activists.

If you all ever wonder what turned wives into worker bees, "The Stepford Wives" was one such thing. Middle America might not have been reading Ms. Magazine or reading feminist literature, but they were absorbing the messages anyway in novels and movies like "The Stepford Wives."

I think it will get to the point where people won't get as excited for real humans, as they can only get turned on by their unattainable in the real-world digital or bot preferences. I think that even that could be considered an Orwellian eradication of the sex instinct. The ecstasy that once used to be reserved for the creation of families, men's own families, gets hijacked by the elite (Party) for its political ends. In 1984 it was presented as a crude Stalinist or North Korean-style dystopia—Orwell clearly underestimated the power of technological progress—but the underlying process is the same: commodify, distort, and disintegrate human nature.

Or a girl submits her 3D scan to an online 50 shades of grey type dude who loads it up onto a fembot and then does a custom porn scene.

The fembot will have a refrigerated womb, so the dudes load is bagged and tagged, DHL is called and the cumshot is delivered to Stacies closest IVF center.
