My best friend in the world is now a mental health worker, used to be security guard on the unit where I worked (psych nurse in a super busy psych emergency services unit in Oakland, CA). I've had way more incidents go right vs wrong thanks to having cool-headed security around instead of batshit crazy female nurses, instigating then panicking every goddam night.

The worst place I ever lived was second tier England, for similar reasons. Full of shitty, angry people and ugly women. The bouncers in small town pubs all wear stab vests, because of course why wouldn't they.

My job wasn't any better, despite the fact that on paper it was a prestigious role. It was the most miserable year of my life. I felt like I got out of prison when I finally left.

The US is full of great places to live. Why stay there?

I've done second tier English cities too. It's a toss up.

Actually, I am stuck here for now for spiritual reasons, but it won't be forever. One thing I will say is, it is like an open air experimentation lab, or a master class in dealing with left field shit, and I do not doubt that once it is in the rear view mirror, I will be thankful for the experience.
