I have had my own struggles with depression, substance abuse and the desire to kill myself- I came closer than I would like to admit- in hindsight it feels foolish and stupid and I reflect on my troubles as character building- but I remember when I was in the middle of the depression and really wanting the pain to stop and it kept getting worse. It is difficult to deal with isolation and indignity alone , on top of that with an online mob attacking you- the guy was not even 25 and had this ordeal.

I think you have the correct view on this. I understand the feeling of "Thus for male feminists"... but it's a wrong feeling and as you suggest we should be fighting it.
