Seriously, why get the state involved in these thigns anyway? Can't you just go to a priest or whatever and declare your love in front of your favorite deity, without having the state involved?

Why do guys so badly want a government approved little paper that can screw them over for life?

A lot of men on both sides have wondered about this. I have lefty friend that once uttered something bordering woke this one time. He asked why law makers who are presumably rich men would make marriage such a raw deal for men. I told him the state basically doesn't want any one man to become too powerful (from having too much $ or offspring) and marriage laws were a powerful way to limit that.

At least in the United States, if you aren't in a common law marriage state, the point is that you aren't going to end up married and in family court in the first place. Half the country has formally rejected so-called "palimony", and as far as I know, the others hear it in civil court, where the rules were written for semi-sane adults instead of a post-apocalyptic tricycle gang of psychotic toddlers on meth.

With that said, hide money. Always hide money. The number of women who understand money at a basic level in the first place is vanishingly small and they don't need to know you're maxing out your retirement accounts, or even how many fucking Delta SkyMiles you have. Play it one social class lower than you really could and then she'll be impressed by the things you "manage" to afford.

This happened in my neighborhood a few months ago. Guy killed his parents and attempted to kill his wife after the divorced was finalized and she was awarded the house. Pretty much solidified my stance that I'm NEVER getting married as it's just asking for trouble in one way or another. I quipped that the dude should have gotten a prenup on my Facebook status and people wouldn't let me live it down.

The twist was that it was her that got him to cash out his crypto at what turned out to be the high point. Without her he might have sat on it too long. Likely part of the reason why she seems to have been awarded so much of his assets.

I have also had this happen. Both on the micro (a girl pretending to agree with me on important topics just to get sex) as well as on the macro (two-year relationship founded on a lie).

Never, ever listen to what a woman says. A woman's instincts drive her to get along with the group; to avoid making waves. When she wants something, she'll never go about it directly. Instead, it's covert action and manipulation. With men, we usually say what we mean. And if we don't, the reason should be obvious (e.g. giving a shitbird employee a good review to avoid bad blood, actionable lawsuits, and to hopefully pawn him off on a competitor). We don't have time for elaborate manipulation games. But with women, they have all the time in the world; even if there's no reason to be manipulative, they will be. It's as certain as a cat sleeping in the sunlight.

So watch what they do. Watch what they pay attention to. Pay attention to times they're actually being selfish - that's who they actually are, you can trust that part of them. If you can, get a female confidant who can evaluate them for you because she knows their game (while keeping in mind that your female friend will be jealous, because she wants your resources too).

At the end of the day, actions speak louder than words.

With the prevalence of red pill knowledge these days, there is no excuse for getting into marriage and being shocked if you get divorce raped.

Honestly, he's probably not even that mad. Sounds like he lived in a state of bliss for half a decade being with a girl out of his league (he called her a 12/10 and was impressed by her celebrity status, lol) and getting a kid out of it. Sure the red flags were everywhere but it sounds like he didn't have sexual options. I think he'll be alright, he sounds like a responsible beta that got a truck load of red pills late in his life.

I agree. Marriage IMO really only makes sense as a framework for raising kids & if you know you can live with that one-gina for a long-ass time.
