The Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thread

Newly unearthed reports from socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s past show that the progressive political candidate had very different views on taxes when she used to run a business.

But Ocasio-Cortez appeared to have a different outlook on capitalism and taxes in 2012 when she was running a business of her own, Brook Avenue Press, an incorporated publishing firm for children’s books set in the Bronx. As a business owner, she came out in support of a bill that would provide tax deductions for business start-up costs, arguing that taxes directly impacted her business profits.

The DCNF also notes that Ocasio-Cortez was a member of a business organization that attracted numerous entrepreneurs and gave talks on entrepreneurship at Boston University where she praised free market enterprise.

And HRC had charisma and people connection?

She is young, non-white, a Democrat, a socialist and is all for empowering ethnic groups/blocs. I dare say she could unite a significant number of people if the liberal lunatics stopped doing what they're doing at the moment and focus on the prize ahead by fooling the public.

Hell they have so many self-hating white people on their side its unbelievable and a lot may have left only because of recent goings on.

All she has to do is turn up, smile, keep her hair long and black/dark brown and learn how to debate and counter. All she has to do.

That incumbent, BTW, was inline to be speaker of the house, which would make him second in line of succession to the presidency. This pretty much. Crowley is the usual machine politician that plagues the boroughs of New York. Usually these types stay in power because the voters (even the low-income and minority ones who suffer the most) still keep voting for these guys because they happen to be Democrat. However, in this case enough people gave enough of a damn to vote this woman in.

My GF is a Latina and her 20 year-old sister both looks and talks with a more adolescent voice than this woman (she really sounds like she's 14 on the phone) and even she says things with more conviction and intelligence then her.
