Off the top of my head, I am thinking 1)workplace and 2)meeting gf's parents.

Being alpha at work can get coworkers to hate you, boss feel threatened and if you stick your head out too far you may even get axed. So, to keep the paychecks rolling in without disruption, is it be better to be submissive, smiling and basically absolutely "nonthreatening" at work?

This type of behavior could be thought of as a byproduct of "I just need to not upset the apple cart here: dont care about anything else really"

[Now, the side of alpha that says to pursue excellence should still be enforced. I am just talking about interpersonal demeanor here]

But then there are those situations where people expect you to be Beta, but most certainly expect you to retaliate by going Full Alpha where it's absolutely smoother to go with the element of surprise and do Sigma.

Funny thread. The OP sounds trollish but I think there might be something interesting to discuss here regardless though...

I recently got a new job and after the job interview I had, I was asked to give 3 references, one of them being someone I've not worked with but a person in my private life. They all had a whole different perception of my personality.

And if you look celebs, a lot of them will act different and people will have a different perception of them depending if it is:

Business
Friends/family
Women
Media

You might say someone like Charlie Sheen is congruent and act "alpha" around everyone and doesn't give a fuck, same with a guy like Mike Cernovich or Conor McGregor or Dan Bilzerian. Then you have guys like Mike Tyson would be like an alpha around everyone except women (read his autobiography or listen to Jamie Foxx who used to go out with him, he was super beta around women). You get the point.

At work I appear like pretty much every other engineer so co-workers often have the perception of me as a guy who is calm, polite, serious and almost shy.
Meanwhile most women and friends probably know me as cocky, loud and confident.

I don't even know what my point is but I sense that if I had more fuck you money and more abundance, I would probably act more congruent and be less apologetic and act more true to myself around everyone without worrying I might lose reputation or something.

But at the same time I think it might be good to be a bit mysterious and unpredictable, so I don't know...
