Does it make a difference if I brewed a jug and then stored it in the fridge and drank it all day on ice?
No, as long as you don`t add sugar!
Actually, its better to drink it warm or hot.
Hot water helps you digest food better than cold drinks. One of the many reasons Asians drink the green tea hot is because it helps your stomach digest food better along with the diuretic properties the tea itself has, which gets rid of excess water weight in the body.
That said, lots of Westerners struggle to get into green tea for the taste or just the habits of drinking hot beverages in general.
Some people put lemon in their tea and some put honey in it. I'll let Johnnyvee comment on if that is healthy to do or not, because I have no idea. I'm hardcore, I double bag mine or make it strong with loose leaves, especially if I am doing a cutting cycle and not lifting heavy so I can cut out the water weight.

Chinese and Korean people do not believe in drinking cold drinks period because they think it hurts the stomach. Like cramps, slows digestion, etc. Has something to do with Hot and Cold body/blood dynamics in Traditional Chinese/Korean/Vietnamese Medicine as well.
The Japanese like you say, are more like us westerners in a sense with cool drinks, but young Chinese now are crazy about boba tea, milk tea, and iced coffees. Taiwanese even more so. They don't give a good damn about the old ways and every year you see alot more of that than the previous years. I remember a time in China, finding a cold drink in even a T1 city was pretty hard to find. Now it is alot easier. I haven't been to Korea in a while, so I could not tell you how much has changed in that regard.

For the tea connoisseurs ....
Mariage Frères makes some of the finest teas in the world. They even have a flagship store in Tokyo, which says a lot.
It can be found at high-end gourmet food shops (or of course at the flagship stores). The grand crus can be outrageously expensive.
https://www.mariagefreres.com/UK/welcome.html
Kusmi is also very good. They have a bit cheaper but also high quality sister brand, Lov Organic, available almost everywhere I guess (they have it at Silpo supermarkets in Ukraine).

https://www.lov-organic.com/
I am myself a heavy (quality) tea drinker.

I also think that pukka tea`s are pretty good. In addition to green tea, I`ve started to add 1-2 cups of turmeric tea to my daily regimen.
https://www.pukkaherbs.com/teas-suppleme...eric-gold/
Turmeric (Curcumin) has been proven to decrease intestinal inflammation and thereby gut permeability, which often leads to allergies and systemic whole body inflammation, as well as specific autoimmune diseases etc. It`s also associated with reduced risk of colon cancer, and other gastrointestinal issues like IBS, Croons, ulcerative colitis etc.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3064532/
The meta review below showed that curcumin works mainly via it`s anti- inflammatory (intra-intestinal) effect, that in turn reduces extra-intestinal inflammation. So curcumin`s poor bioavailability doesn`t seem to matter much, since it`s not dependent on crossing the gut barrier. (No need to add pepper etc.)
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29438458
"In this review, in vitro, animal, and human studies investigating the effects of curcumin on intestinal microbiota, intestinal permeability, gut inflammation and oxidative stress, anaphylactic response, and bacterial, parasitic, and fungal infections are summarized. It is argued that positive changes in these areas can have wide-ranging influences on both intestinal and extraintestinal diseases, and therefore presents as a possible mechanism behind curcumin's therapeutic efficacy."
Turmeric tea is a small dose "supplement" though. To much will lead to gastrointestinal symptoms you definitely don`t want, and also nausea. 1 cup a day is really enough i think. My guess is that tea is better than curcumin pills. It`s kind of a mild and neutral tasting tea, I quite enjoy it.
We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.

RE: Green Tea-The king of antioxidants
I love green tea, but what about rooibos tea?
That’s a small article about it’s benefits.
Rooibos tea: Even healthier than green tea?
Quote:Rooibos tea is gaining popularity around the world as a delicious, healthy, and calming drink. Rooibos tea comes from deep in South Africa, and it has been used for centuries for good health amongst the Africans—and for good reason!
Rooibos (pronounced Ruy-bos) has been shown to protect against cancer, reduce inflammation, help prevent heart disease, lower blood pressure, and even calm babies. And because it does not contain caffeine, like green and black tea, it is a safe and soothing drink to have before bedtime, and you can drink as much as you want. Many South Africans drink 5-6 cups of Rooibos a day.
One of the best health benefits of Rooibos is its mineral content including magnesium, which is essential for so many people who are deficient in the mineral. Magnesium is calming to the nervous system and the blood vessels, helping to regulate heart beat, and lower blood pressure. It also contains calcium, zinc and manganese which are vital for bones and teeth, as well as iron, which helps to supply red blood cells and oxygen to the body. One of the wonderful things about getting your minerals from a natural food is that they all exist in perfect balance to help you absorb them best. The magnesium helps you absorb the calcium and the copper helps you absorb its iron.
Black, green and rooibos tea all contain polyphenols—the powerful antioxidants that make tea the super-powered drink that it is. But, rooibos tea contains almost 50% more polyphenols than even green tea! Two of the polyphenols that are found in high concentrations in rooibos are aspalathin, and nothogagin, as well as quercetin. These antioxidants fight free radicals which are the unstable cells that can cause disease. Aspalathin is only found in rooibos!
Aspalthin has been found to be full of anti-cancer compounds—so much so that the Cancer Association of South Africa has officially recognized it as one of the leading sources of cancer-fighting substances. In one study done on mice with cancer, the cancer disappeared in the mice who drank rooibos instead of water! Another study found that applying Rooibos compound to mice with skin cancer reduced tumors by 70%. Rooibos is so effective that many cosmetics and skin care products are starting to add it to their products.
Rooibos’ benefits go far beyond just preventing cancer. Rooibos tea contains a flavonoid called chrysoeriol that improves blood circulation. A Swedish study shows that it helps to inhibit ACE, a physical chemical that constricts blood vessels and is linked to blood pressure. One of the key factors in detecting heart disease has to do with two blood markers that indicate inflammation in the blood vessels. Study participants who drank 6 cups of Rooibos a day for six weeks showed a 50% reduction!
Rooibos’ powerful antioxidants also reduce inflammation which is the root cause for many diseases including heart disease, cancer, arthritis, Alzheimier’s and diabetes. Rooibos works better than one of the most powerful pharmaceutical pain relievers, Vioxx—without the dangerous side effects.
Rooibos is very calming to the digestive system—in fact, Rooibos is so gentle and soothing that many mothers in South Africa use the tea to soothe colic in babies. The quercetin it contains makes it also good for indigestion, stomach cramps, and upset stomach for grownups as well.
Most of the Rooibos tea that we see in the U.S., is the fermented type, which makes it appear reddish-brown. Unfermented green rooibos tea is also available, although more difficult to find, but it does contain higher levels of antioxidants. Red Rooibos has a delicious, light, nutty and sweet flavor and you can purchase it loose or in tea bags. Let the brew steep for 5 minutes or more to get its full strength effect. By the way, adding milk to tea can reduce the availability of certain antioxidants, so it is better to drink plain or with just a touch of honey or organic maple syrup.

RE: Green Tea-The king of antioxidants
OPs post is brilliant and just wanted to add another helpful way to dramatically increase EGCG absorption. Add fresh lemon juice to your tea after its done steeping.
https://www.purdue.edu/uns/x/2007b/07111...ziTea.html
Quote:Lemons and tea go even better together than their popularity might suggest. Lemon juice caused 80 percent of tea's catechins to remain, the study found. Following lemon, in terms of stabilizing power, were orange, lime and grapefruit juices. Ferruzzi said both vitamin C and citrus juices must interact with catechins to prevent their degradation in the intestines, although data made it clear that citrus juices have stabilizing effects beyond what would be predicted solely based on their vitamin C content.
"If you want more out of your green tea, add some citrus juice to your cup after brewing or pick a ready-to-drink product formulated with ascorbic acid," Ferruzzi said.
Ready-to-drink green tea products should optimally contain 100-200 mg of catechins, but oftentimes do not have sufficient levels of tea extract since some people do not like green tea's flavor, Ferruzzi said.
Although this study only examined green tea, Ferruzzi said he suspects that some of the results also could apply to black tea, which is produced by fermenting green tea. Many prefer black tea's flavor, although it contains lower total levels of catechins.
Studies have shown catechins from the green tea plant, Camellia sinensis, are able to detoxify toxic chemicals, inhibit cancer cell activity and stimulate production of immune-strengthening enzymes. Finding methods to improve uptake of these catechins may, therefore, be important in improving health, part of the study's goal, Ferruzzi said.
The study was funded by the National Institutes of Health.
So the best way to drink your Sencha or Jasmine green tea with high antioxidants is to first let it steep, then add some freshly squeezed lemon juice and take it with some fish oil. This should dramatically increase absorption.
I have been doing this recently and it not only tastes great but I feel great too. Anecdotal to you, still awesome feeling for me.

Thanks for sharing! You could arge though that more is not necessarily better when it comes to any polyphenol/flavonoid, they can have pro-oxidative effects in large quantities. But definitely something I will try. Might just do fewer cups of tea daily though. 2-3 cups might be sufficient. I also have started doing green tea with spearmint added. (25-30 percent spearmint to green tea, just organic tea bags, there are many available.) Spearmint has a high content of rosmarinic acid, a compound that like catechins is proven to have potent anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-microbial, anti Warburg-effect (cancer) properties and much more. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26056431
