I've worked in customer service in the U.S. and now I live in a developing country where people tolerate a lot more. What you don't appreciate is how spoiled and entitled Americans are in general and American women are in particular compared to the rest of the world. I used to work for a condo in a diverse neighborhood where the office received heaps of complaints over trivial bullshit in the building that was no where near the low quality of service I find in my new home. A place stinking of piss, shit and ball sweat will drive most Starcuck's customers away over time.

I've never seen bums or junkies at Starbucks and the one i go to is always clean with free bathrooms. I could see how it could be a problem in big cities but overall I don't see the big deal. Starbucks has good service, decent coffee, and good Wi-Fi. And now they kicked in free bathrooms. What's the problem here? You guys just mad cause some poor people might wanna take a piss?

Mites, lice, some bacteria - you get it all if you invite certain people into your bathrooms. There was a reason why many infectious diseases died out in Europe - the reason was - hygiene!!! If everyone is washing himself somewhat regularly, then we are golden. But as soon as too many don't, then lice and mites propagate themselves like wildfire.

There was a coffee shop I used to frequent, kind of a basic place in the midst of Starbucks and other chichi cafes. Homeless guys used to come in and just take the bathroom key then use the toilet. They never left a mess as far as I could tell. Then the coffee place closed and was renovated, reopened as one of the chichi places. Homeless guys never came back.
