I find this puritanical attitude to herpes quite ironic for a game forum. If you've slept with a lot of women you are likely to have it. A lot of people don't manifest any symptoms.

PM me for accommodation options in Bangkok.

Lol. Most of you posting this are living with your heads in the sand.

It's just herpes. It ain't aids.

If you hit real super player notch counts (150+), you're likely to catch something. I've had gono and Chlamydia, and currently have HSV and HPV.

If a little skin irritation bothers you that much, you're too much of a pussy to be a player anyway.

@Incubus & Spaniard88

I agree it's far from ideal, of course, and for a man with options, it also strikes me as not worth it.
My devil's advocate reasoning here is based on balancing contracting HSV, which is a minor inconvenience in the scheme of things, with having a loyal, cooperative wife who knows that the OP is the best she'll ever get. That good wife part is obviously purely hypothetical, and in part stems from my seemingly irrevocably sentimental view of successful marriages.

-HSV 1&2 are so common that if you want to protect your baby from it, you must never let anyone kiss them.

-Standard, free STD tests don't look for it. Lots of people who are scrupulous about getting checked up have it and don't know, so the chance of the OP ending up marrying/having a family (if that's what he wants ) with a girl with it unknowingly are not that low.

- If things go wrong, yes, neonatal HSV infections are potentially no joke. The highest risk cases are when a woman is infected soon before or during pregnancy, or having regular outbreaks, so at least that's less of an issue here. It's an added, albeit quite low, risk in what is already a minefield of potential problems.

- If OP follows a player lifestyle of three figure notch counts, raw dogging here and there or even everywhere, and so on, his chances of getting it anyway are quite high, whether it's from a BJ or the poon, and even whether or not he wears a condom, which aren't foolproof. So, if he does want to settle down one day, he may easily find himself on the other side of this virus related LTR decision with a woman.

AFAIK it's mostly harmless, and a lot of girls get it from oral sex. There's a danger of infecting children while giving birth if she would have sores, but it's low probability and it can be controlled with anti-viral therapy.

Overall, it's wasn't show stopper for me, especially if she gets sores rarely and takes care of herself.

Yeah, I'm with you, as it pertains to OP, the calculations are very different, and your advice is solid.

Quick Google search says about a quarter of Americans have type 2 herpes and half have type 1.

A lot of people don't have breakouts or know they have it. I've never been tested or had a breakout but statistically there's a decent chance I'd test positive.

It's really not that big of a deal.

Brother, you're nuts if you leave a good girl, by your own admission, who you like and she reciprocates for her having herpes.

As others have said, any dude with a respectable notch count has been exposed to this. HSV1 and HSV2 are interchangeable. The difference being whether it affects above or below the waist, BUT, HSV1 can affect you below the waist and HSV2 can affect you above the waist. They are, generally, area specific, but not always. HSV1 can cause genital herpes and 67% of the world's population has that.

If you've found a good girl, stick with her.

Thanks for the reply, man. It was heartfelt and I kinda feel the same way. The only thing that worries me is if i do get HSV2 from her , that means I'll have both strains of the virus. I couldn't find any info as to how that affects your body other than occasional, possible breakouts. Just the idea of HSV1 and 2 laying dormant in my body doesn't sit too well with me. Does it weaken your immune system in any way?

Everything came back negative except I have HSV-1 (cold sores) and hers came back positive for HSV-2. We were using condoms up to this point, which from what I understand are not foolproof against herpes.

The thing is I really like her. She's sweet, feminine, and good to me. She has strong feelings for me as well. And I don't think the herpes is a result of a slutty past, she just got unlucky. She was kind of devastated by the news although I guess it's not the worst thing in the world. She told me she's never had any outbreaks or symptoms. I consoled her but now thinking if I should continue seeing her or not.

My personal #1 sign a guy is acting like an idiot is when the girl in question is a walking list of adjectives, sweet, pretty etc. Herpes would make a good sign too I guess.

So let me get this straight. She raw dogged a guy with open sores...... and you console her on her (fake?) finding out moment.

Sounds familiar?

One guy impregnates, another raises kid and pays.
Alpha fucks, beta bucks.
One man pays for a house for his woman, a bad boy lives in it for free later w the woman.
One man raw dogs and leaves behind ooze, another man accompanies her to the doc and helps her with the devastating moment.

RE: Found out my new gf has HSV-2 (Genital Herpes). Should I stay?
Well, I can give you a long version of the answer because I was a biology (microbiology) major, but I'm not a scientist, by any stretch of the imagination. It has to do with your genetic make-up, which also makes it impossible to cure. There is a re-structuring of your DNA or recumbent DNA (rDNA), so to speak. This happens in several other maladies, the first that comes to mind is cancer. An outside element invades your genetic structure, rearranges your DNA and every cell that you produce from then on replicates itself with that same genetic code, thus replicating the condition, so you're stuck with it.

Sounds tragic, I know, but hear me out.

It's really not as bad as you think. First of all, after you get rid of all the "o my God what the fuck" it's so totally not a big deal. If you get it (and most likely all of us will) it's just a painful inconvenience. That's once you first contract it, but as we've already established, just know it, recognize it, and try not to pass it on.

I wrestled in high school. If you're familiar with the sport and the means of infection, you'll know that 13 high school virgins got infected with it and several teammates thought their lives were ruined. Far from the case. The prevalence of the infection hardly did anything to them.
I've also worked as a paramedic and many, many times I've had a patient that had an active outbreak. Was it weird? At first, but not really after that. It's also more prevalent in different races--but that's just a bunch of nonsense which lends nothing to this discussion, so I'll refrain.

It's only infectious when you have an active outbreak, but there is a period of "days before" when you are going to have an outbreak, but you don't know it.

And, the longer you have it, the less likely you'll have an outbreak. You, literally, could go an entire lifetime carrying the disease and not know it.

The likelihood of you finding a girl with herpes is FAR, FAR, less than you finding a good girl to settle down with.

My suggestion to you is: if you grabbed onto a good girl, keep her around.

RE: Found out my new gf has HSV-2 (Genital Herpes). Should I stay?
You have only been seeing this girl for 2 months. You're definitely in the honeymoon phase.

She may be gone in 6 months, but herpes won't. That's a lifelong contract.

If you don't have it already, why chance on contracting it? Think big picture.

STD's don't "come with the territory" if you fuck a lot of women. Sure, you may still contract something if you took all the precautions in the world, but at least you can find peace with the fact that you did your best for prevention.

In my early 20's I dumped a girl because she told me she had herpes (we hadn't fucked yet). She was a really cool girl and I liked her. But over time, I know I made the right decision.

Dump her. There are millions of more girls.

If I recall correctly you've just gotten out of a serious relationship, no? I second post above that you're in honeymoon phase. It all sounds cute till you start growing stuff on your dick. You might be the unlucky one who gets a billion outbreaks a year. When you'll find the *right* girl you don't want herpes to he the reason you she won't commit to you.

Tell her to get on valtrax and rock on. Most forum members with more than 5 notches have likely already hooked up with someone with HSV-2, statistically-speaking.

2 months into a relationship and we're telling a guy to lock down a herpes chick because she's sweet and feminine?

Where the hell have we come on this forum to rationalize this?

Tiger I know we talked about your break up bro, but seriously, you seeing this girl is brand new, and the fact she's sweet and cute is clouding your judgement because she's the newest pussy on the block post break up.

You're ONLY 2 months into this girl, girls will lie about anything to keep a high value male in their midst, including catching an STD.

I'm on the betting side that she knew, but didn't want to scare you away by telling you before you had sex.

To the other guys, look I get it, I had a herpes scare before (broke out), however I got tested multiple times (more than the standard) a year after every single test came back negative. (No offense to the guys who reached out to me on PM offering advice because they had it also)

I was freaking out also, and that shit sucks, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy (okay maybe some of them).

It's not fun, it still is something serious, stats be damned.

By not sleeping with her anymore, you have peace of mind that you don't have it, once again, stats be damned.

Yeah there are ways to manage it - some have been mentioned - but it's still an inconvenience.

To be clear, I don’t think OP should “lock her down”. But this isn’t a big enough reason, to me, to kick her to the curb. At least with this one you know what you’re fucking with.

20-30% of the population has this. It’s each man’s call what to do in this situation. As long as you both protect yourselves you should be fine.

a girl that got outbreaks on her face and she knew they were coming long before you could see any evidence of it.

So I would avoid kissing her when she had a cold sore.

I never caught it from her and we were together for 5+ years.

This man speaks the truth. If she takes herpes medicine she will prevent outbreaks. Plus if she and you (since you know) look for the signs beforehand. You will not get herpes 2. And being honest with you, you're going to sleep with someone that has had herpes 2 in your life. My personal experience, I've slept with 2 people with herpes 2 (that I know of) and I never contacted herpes 2. I do know I've probably slept with more. Women and men today avoid telling people that. I've also heard of a girl saying, "hell, I don't care of other people and if they get it its their own fault" Overall, it isn't a deal-breaker and very manageable.

I wouldn't leave/drop her like a bad habit. However, I would just tell her to take things slow. If she is a good girl and she is serious about you and she is wifey material then she wouldn't mind waiting for you to be more comfortable with it. Nowadays good girls are hard to find. Most women are savages. Me personally, I would wait it out and if she does prove to you that she is down for real. Then, I would take a girl that had herpes 2 and just be Proactive about it.

WIth herpes 1 and Herpes 2. The only way you can catch it if that person with herpes 1/2 has an outbreak. Therefore wearing rubbers doesn't do you any good during sex when you still do oral. In your case, she gives you head.

Note: for years, people have named herpes 1 as a no big deal. Claiming, "oh, I just have a cold sore." Herpes 2 is starting to be a more normal ordeal and is preventable in all cases even when giving birth if the problem is addressed beforehand

Anything less and it doesn't make sense. Sure, you can use all the protection and drugs and your chances of getting it are low, but it's not worth it.

They certainly do. Pretty much all the big players I know from this forum have admitted to getting something at some point.

I'm not telling OP to lock down this girl, but dumping her for something that a massive slice of the population has (most you won't know because asymptomatic and they don't test for it) is silly and immature.

Hi Tiger, when someone shares a news of this nature it creates an emotional connection, as you have spent time with the girl. The way she reacted to the news like crying , shock have caused you to be more emotionally connected. In my experience this emotional connect fades away with time and not long lasting. The emotional connection you feel now would fade with time so the decision you need to make should be based on a long-term perspective.

Quote:/* I consulted with a doctor who basically shrugged it off and said were fine if she's asymptomatic but to wrap it up anyway. the idea of using condoms in a relationship kinda turns me off though. */

It is going to be difficult to be cautious over the long run so think this in terms of a long term what would be possible or not. Also, not sure how easy would it be for you to shrug it off as each person’s mentality is different to std risks.

Quote:The breakup would be tough on both of us and I'm not sure it's worth it.

At least take a short-term break for your emotion’ s to subside to decide more on a rational basis than at an emotional level what would be the best choice for you.
