This is not true, i don't have a single friend that have ever paid for sex and i never did myself. You have to see who are the groups doing it, one of the largest are exactly tourists. Cocaine addicts, sex addicts, people on serious depression. The average Joe does not pay for sex, it is normal to go a brothel with friends just to see how it is is and never return. Brazil is huge, some regions like the North may be different.

From my experience (Sao Paulo, i.e not a tourist place by any means), it is quite frequent and considered as "normal" that business partners celebrate the closing of a deal in a "boite". There is literally dozens of those venues in Sampa, some incredibly upscale (with cigar bar, ect) where patrons are top tier businessmen, TV celebrities, football stars, ect ect ......to say that P4P is not a cultural thing in Brasil is a denial of reality IMHO, the proof being the significant number of those establishments. I never said that people went to those venues necessarily to "consume" BTW, for many guys I know (businessmen) it's simply because they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere ..... that said I'm not brasilian, and frequent in Sao Paulo people in the 40 yo + age range (so maybe older than you), so maybe my assessment is not accurate if we talk about the younger generation.

Anyway better leave the conversation here, it's not of interest for the members of this forum I guess.

@Count Pierre , i live here for ages. There is no denial, you are simply wrong. It is definitively not cultural. Of course there are normal Joes who may eventually do that for whatever reason but it is not normal. By the way a "boite" or "boate" is a night club not a brothel.

In Copacabana, Rio there was a huge night club called Boate Help that received more than five thousand people per night but actually it was a disguised brothel. All of the male audience were tourists and the female prostitutes, you would hardly find locals there. It was considered by many the main touristic attraction of Rio.

São Paulo is definitively bigger on brothels simply because it is a much bigger city, and there are some high end end ones frequented by rich men that does not want any involvement with women anymore. But that is not the normal, much less cultural.

OP, it is true that you over reacted but you admitted quickly that you’ve been quick in your assumptions. No need to constantly bash you and kind of ask you to get on your knees to ask for absolution. There are idiots in every country including the US, Germany and France. American are dumb, french are arrogant and german are stuck up and boring...stereotypes are easy and it is easy to make assumptions and put people in boxes, there are many idiots on this forum as well, I have read so many racist and narrow minded posts from high repped members. Everybody should start cleaning at his own doorstep before giving lessons.

Anyway, OP, what did you think about safety? People say it is super dangerous in Rio currently except if you stay in Ipanema and Leblon but to me these neighborhoods are mainly for tourists, I dont wanna be locked in a ghetto for gringos.
When I went 3 years ago I Stayed in Botafogo and in Laranjeiras, It was ok, I didnt do P4P but I had fun with women there, I fell in love with brasilian women, extremely sensual, easy going and warm.

Can a local with some game tell us if day game is doable in Rio and in which area? When I was there I felt women were constantly on guards because of safety issues, I admit that my super broken portuguese didn’t help.

Current data sheets are extremely outdated here in the forums when it comes to Rio (Lots of clubs who died / closed).. Anyone who have any recommendations around Ipanema? I checked out Emporio which was completely dead on a friday which got recommended a few times on here.

Thanks for the support. I think the same. High-Rep people are not necessarily much better people or players, in my experience, sometimes they are amazing, sometimes they are just KJ, sometimes they are super successful but just because of very good LMS.

But in any case they put in a lot of their valuable personal time which I appreciate a lot.

As concerns your question. Personally I have not witnessed any violent robberies or muggings. The gringo travellers I have talked with (Backpackers) told me that they have not seen either. Some of them - the typical post-bachelor types - travelling for half a year. However if you do something stupid like letting your phone lie on the table, it can be stolen very quickly. And never walk around with a notebook bag. In centro I could actually see the banker types leaving the office at 9pm and immediatly jumping into a taxi.

But if course if you are alone and an obvious tourist (red burned skin, cargo pants, ...) you have a risk during the night. Brazileans have a pretty paranoid perspective. But this is no wonder. You are there for maybe a months. They live there 24/7/365/80(?).

In terms of neighborhoods, all Centro and South felt pretty fine for me. I have not been to other places. Buzios is a place for the rich, so fine as well.

Concerning coping strategies. After 12pm better take a taxi then walk around alone for long distances. Getting a cheap phone, and a backup phone in the safe, have only small money on you distributed to different locations in your clothes. And even if you get mugged it should be no big deal. And take out the phone only in safe places like bars / restaurants or the metro, i.e. away from other people. And of course don't put on your Rolex

Oh, last word on safety. There are these terrible reports at the moment. The army going to Rio because things are getting out of hand. Actually I have seen some armoured vehicles. ... A Dutch traveller explained to me that things are actually a bit complicated and related to a new police president. He was incompetant the federal government felt like it had to reassure people. But in any case the economy is doing badly which has consequences to security as well.

Exactly. I had the same experience. Often times no people or closed. That is why I gave up on visiting all these places and rather walked around.

Emporio was a very traditional and very popular Rock bar in the 90s and 2000s it was so crowded that people would simply take over the street and the beach as the bar extension, but since the original owner died it turned in a prostitution spot for gringos. You don't wanna go home after clubs and bars are closed: Bar Jobi and Pizzaria Guanabara in Leblon, you can keep drinking(or eating) in the morning and maybe find a lost girl.

Those two clubs have a good structure and consistent crowd. It is hard to me to make a data sheet because there are too many bars, pubs and clubs and also i don't like to suggest places with poor structure or places that are not consistent.

If you are more specific about what you are looking for like kind of music, kind of women, kind of place, average age i think i could help better. There are all kind of places you can imagine. Specifying if gay people is an issue is also important because many places are mixed gay/hetero. For example Fosfobox in Copacabana is popular but it is mostly gay, stereotypical gay but hetero young hot women goes there too.

But i would like to talk about one place(there are many) unexplored by gringos. It may be a good idea exactly because there are no gringos. Look for the bars and clubs in the Tijuca neighborhood, the nightlife there is all centered around a popular bar called Buxixo that also has a night club on the second floor.

Thanks for the recommendations, but logistics are just too bad for me in Tijuca and Lapa, even Botafogo is a bit meh but I might give it a shot. So there is basically no clubs around Ipanema worth mentioning anymore? Something similair to Jack Daniels would be great, I went to barzin other night which was decent in Ipanema. But the bar area is a bit too open and small imo, which makes it a bit worse for approaching.

I have just checked where I have been too:
- Shenanigans, just an Irish pub like is every town around the world. Was always rather boring when I went there (2 times). Just people sitting at the tables and eating burgers
- Bar Bukowski, actually my wing and I tried to go there but it must have been a bad day because almost empty
- Doing the Pub Crawl, I was in Carioca de Gama, a nice restaurant, bar, live music floor mix (Brasilian music). I was more focused on the large group of Italian female doctors that was with us (pretty pointless) than the other people. I guess there were some nice Brasilians as well
- then I went to something like a club. Also in Lapa, one very large floor, with live music on a stage, but no snooker tables, ... unfortunately I cannot remember the name ((( It was good but afai remember I ran into language problems again

I’m gonna spend two months in Brazil but wanna live in one city for one month. If I don’t end up with Rio, what other cities do you recommend? Fairly safe with Big-booty girls, decent/great nightlife, and perhaps access to nice local day trips.

I never saw it empty and i've been there countless times over the years, probably you went too early. It is almost always empty until about midnight or more rarely 1am and people keep coming all night long. It is good to arrive early to avoid their big and slow queue but most people arrive late.

Rio is big, the Zona Sul alone is big. It is impossible to stay in one neighborhood only unless you find some venue you really enjoy and want to go only there. When Jack Daniel's was open i would almost only go there, it was in the Ipanema's part of Lagoa close Empório but it is closed now. The closest to night life you will find in Ipanema nowadays is a place called "Barzin", you may like it(i don't). Ipanema is good to stay relatively safe, looks great, there is good looking women in the streets to see and for day game, the beach, will impre$$ women but not good for night life. Night clubs in those more expensive neighborhoods tend to die quickly. Google still lists a lot of clubs in Ipanema that do not exist anymore.

The more night life centric neighborhood in Zona Sul is Botafogo and there is not that much there. Places i like there are Bar Bukowski, Saloon 79 and Teto Solar. The last two are not good to pick girls.

The easiest places to pick girls are the shittiest ones, i can mention for example Gafieira Elite in the city center. The parties there always get hot and easy student girls but everything else about this place is shitty, really everything, and it is not always working. They have no site or anything so better research before if something is going on there, according to Google they have a mobile phone number but i doubt.

Many good parties in Rio are seasonal parties with no fixed location, it could be a good idea to change your living city on Facebook to Rio de Janeiro just to see the events list. Virtually all events are listed there. The bars, pubs and clubs(it is called boate) are all listed on Google but Google may be a complete shot in the dark, many also appear on Facebook events list which is better and won't list closed venues.

This site sell tickets for party venues, there is no need to buy anything on the site as you can buy in the venue itself if you believe it is worth, however it is also good to find night events:

I don't like Lapa but it is virtually impossible to not pick women anywhere around there. And there are many options.

We weren't asking the OP to "get on his knees to ask for absolution". We were asking him to follow the rules which I think he realized hence his post here.

Roosh's advice to take it easy until you get a feel for the flow of the community is excellent advice and it makes more sense after you've been around a while and possibly met other forum members (although I don't think meeting other forum members should be a requirement for anything). I didn't agree with this advice so much when I was newer on this forum and hadn't met anyone but now it is easier to understand why it is correct.

A guy having more history on this forum than you (posts, reps, meeting forum members, etc.) does not mean that he is better than you but he probably has a better understanding of some things. He probably has a better understanding of how many newer guys on this forum are trolls. He probably has a better understanding of how many new guys who meet other forum members are guys with real issues from social awkwardness to various addictions. He probably has much more of a vested interest in keeping the quality high on this forum.

Also, cultures that require men to prove themselves and earn respect are healthy and positive for men. Our societies have moved away from that concept as women have moved into corporations, government, academia and insisted that everyone is entitled to respect. That model works well in the context of feminine feelings but it is far less effective in the context of results and maintaining a high quality of anything.
