Should America Annex Canada?
I started to read some literature on this exact issue, and wondered why no-one speaks publicly in favor of a North American union. Granted, there could be issues in terms of perception, because we don't want it to appear like the Anschluss. Given the fact that Canada is essentially already a puppet state of the US (Five Eyes Alliance, quiet support of US foreign policy, massive inferiority complex, and heavy dependence on american culture), I think it makes serious sense, and would help our economy immensely. Canada and America have similar values, similar language, similar economic situations, and so on. America has expansionist tendencies and an aggressive foreign policy, so it would be sense for us to annex canada in order to make us more powerful, in order to better handle emerging powers like China.

If they were to be annexed they could retain some devolved power, like, for example universal healthcare, more generous welfare benefits, stricter gun laws etc. The only non-negotiable things would be a common currency, freedom of movement for citizens of both countries, and 1 unified military. Given that they are peace-loving, they can have their own peacekeepers that wear the Canadian flag if they want. Quebec issue could be thorny, so I say that the status quo should be kept with respect to them. I am not sure how the situation with regards to the queen would be handled, but I think there would be other, bigger problems.

I'm asking for opinions, and I think it's something worth considering, because I've been exploring expansionist literature recently. I've always wondered why we have so much in common, but because of historical circumstances we never united. Keeping in mind we had the Fillibuster movement in central/ south america, Cuba, Philippines, military bases everywhere, heavy presence in the Pacific, etc. Stuff like this has happened before, EU (basically), the UK, Yugoslavia, Soviet Union, Russia & its autonomous republics (currently), Bosnia (currently), etc.

First of all, you're insane.

Second of all, one can't annex a sovereign country.

Third of all, have you ever been to Canada? It's a total shit-show of freaks.

We already have that. It's called California, Oregon, and Washington.

If you want to "annex" an entire country that hasn't the population of Los Angeles, you're tripping.

They'd resist us with millions of asians/muslims, plumes of pot smoke, vibrating dildos, and pink/purple hair dyes and facial piercings.

You can't annex yes, but you can invade, slaughter and enslave their wommenz.

We already have air power prepositioned in the Dakotas and montana.

We can get the prairie and oil types on our side

Promise them guns, shale and pouteen made from their enemies in Ontario

Then with enough global warming we can open up the northwest passage.

Second of all, one can't annex a sovereign country. To avoid Anschluss like antics, I'd think you'd have to have a referendum in both. We have common anglo ties, speak basically the same dialect, Canada already allows us to do whatever the hell we want because they are subservient to us, very similar economies, etc. You can not deny that adding ~30+ million people and one of the world's strongest economies would be a bad thing. Global political developments and the rise of China mean we need to be in the strongest economic position possible.

^^ Don't get me started on tactics....

Why do you think we've put a Starbuck's and a Home Depot at every street corner. So our tank commanders can navigate...

Bomber squadrons, no sweat, only three big metropolitan areas. Sounds legit.

Infantry will indulge in all the Chinese food...

Canada doesn't have much of a navy, so I'm pretty sure the blockade will be anticlimactic.

US will shut off the oil supplies through Alaska... ouchy.

No, dude but seriously, Canada is a hell of an ally. Their govn't is fucked up, but so is ours, they're still good people and they have never failed to help us-EVER- even when we were wrong.... They backed us. I'm pro-canada. Very, very pro-Canada!

We can get the prairie and oil types on our side There are a lot of people not on the coasts that are very friendly to our side, in other words, they are "our guys." Hard working, reliable, conservative values, hate SJWs etc. I would love to annex just conservative canada, they would be a welcome addition to the US.

Promise them guns, shale and pouteen made from their enemies in Ontario Yes they need more guns, and better yet, no tarrifs to get the stuff to the refineries in Houston.

Then with enough global warming we can open up the northwest passage. That's important to consider, and would help us tremendously against Chinese and Russian presence as well as shipping in the arctic.

US would be worse off with Puerto Rico b/c they are poor and would be a net drain on the other states. It benefits us to keep them as a colony. I think canadians hold a deep inferiority complex, and they secretly realize they would have far more relevance and power if they joined up with us. They can keep elements of their canadian identity, but the new relationship is about benefiting both parties. it's more of an issue that they need to be made aware of, all our commonalities, common heritage, similar foreign policies, similar values etc.

Canadians already are our pawns, they are just unaware of it. Imagine if we started sending illegals to Canada. They could not handle it! We are one big buffer zone for them.

This is a thought experiment. But I favor a peaceful annexation couched in terms of how it is beneficial to both parties. Mainly economic and cultural. The common market would be killer, and the amount of intellectual and cultural firepower we would have would be awesome.

I thinking having a referendum is the only feasible way.

Also, I addressed ideas for a looser union similar to the EU, or things even looser than that.

I believe it's been tried already.

But no, it's a net drain on us. We already have enough central american immigrants here. Plus the influx of people that would be legally able to work would piss off a lot of americans. Don't even get me started about the strain it would put on welfare, etc. It would benefit them a lot, but we wouldn't get much. We essentially already have a system where they are a 51st state of ours, because we get all these Mexicans coming over the border illegally (there are other nationalities of course).

biggest industry in mexico is remittances. Net drain. No to annexation.

I'm not sure why everybody is bashing the OP. Disagree with him all you want, but the "is this a serious thread" and "verbal diarrhea" and "you're insane" posts do nothing to further the discussion.

However, I do disagree with you Dragan. I think it's a very slippery slope with what the EU is doing or what you're proposing, an annexation of a sovereign country.

While Canadians and Americans are similar, we are still different. Americans will change the culture, values and demographics of Canada. Granted, Canada seems to be doing all they can to do that anyway under Trudeau, but hey that's their choice we don't need to do that for them.

Besides the fact that Canada would no longer be filled majority populated with ethnic British and ethnic French Canadians if they were annexed by the US, the other point is this: Where does it end man?

Something like the European Union or the USA/Canada joining to counter the over a billion population of the largely homogeneous Han China, what happens when the Han Chinese pop out another billion or two people? Do even more countries need to join together to counter China?

It's of my opinion that the key to life is the balance between the yin and the yang. You need counterbalances in the world.

If institutions like the European Union replicate themselves across the world (such as your example of USA/Canada merger), the end goal of that is a one world government. I can assure you that we will all be fucked i that ever happens and there is nothing to counter balance it.

Sorry my post wasn't very academic or researched this time, I largely just gave my opinion. It would be sad to see Canada lose it's culture and demographics if they merged with the USA though, I wouldn't wish that upon Canada even if they wish it upon themselves with their policies.

RE: Should America Annex Canada?
I also want to add that depending on who is in power, Canadians might largely support an annexation or a merger with the US. If somebody like Obama was President sometime in the future, I don't see why it couldn't work. It wouldn't work with an invasion obviously, but if the US/Canada merger did it slowly, deceivingly and quietly behind the people's backs over a long period of time, just like the European Union has done since the aftermath of the Second World War, then an annexation or merger between the US and Canada would be entirely possible.

But like I said, it would change Canada to much, they don't need hoards of Americans flocking to their region of the world and changing what essentially makes Canada, Canada.

LOL how ignorant.

You're talking about annexing an entire fucking country... And you don't realize most of the entire western US was Mexico? Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Washington...

@GoingTheDistance

I'm not sure why everybody is bashing the OP. Disagree with him all you want, but the "is this a serious thread" and "verbal diarrhea" and "you're insane" posts do nothing to further the discussion. Thanks. I try to say exactly what I mean on this forum.

However, I do disagree with you Dragan. I think it's a very slippery slope with what the EU is doing or what you're proposing, an annexation of a sovereign country. If you are a believer in nationalism, conservatism, (insert non-cucked right-wing philosophies/ political theories here) it starts to make a lot more sense. It’s not a project designed to look like the EU in nature. And it sure as hell isn’t going to be globo-cucked. Us and the Canadians are very alike, it’s almost like the Germans and Austrians, for a lack of a better example, or the Russians and BeloRussians, or Sweden and Norway. Historically unfortunate circumstances happen where groups of very similar people split. But if they can find a way to come today they become stronger against a common enemy. See where I’m going?

It should have been a long time ago that we had a serious discussion and/or effort to have Canada join us.

While Canadians and Americans are similar, we are still different. Americans will change the culture, values and demographics of Canada. Granted, Canada seems to be doing all they can to do that anyway under Trudeau, but hey that's their choice we don't need to do that for them. My response would be that there are more differences between Texas and California than there are wide swaths of normal America and the counterpart in Canada. We are very similar countries in terms of demographics, broadly speaking, although Canada is more white. Whatever efforts are being made to make Canada more diverse, unintentiallonally (or perhaps intentionally) the demographic changes are happening way faster here b/c of unchecked illegal immigration.

Besides the fact that Canada would no longer be filled majority populated with ethnic British and ethnic French Canadians if they were annexed by the US, the other point is this: Where does it end man? I don’t think many americans would be moving to Canada, but I could be wrong. We have a lot of situations where we’re about equal. People in the US can move to the more socialist states now if they want free stuff, yet it doesn’t happen. If anything, people make a choice to move to the places with the most free economic client. Canada has done really well with their economy, to their credit, so yeah maybe some Americans would go there, but then again some Canadians would come here. That’s the beauty of the arrangement I’m proposing. Where does it end is not a question that can be answered.. The argument is to annex them, no one else, very simple. I’ve justified it. But it’s in our best interests to annex them, and we have so much in common, it’s an arrangement that could work.

Something like the European Union or the USA/Canada joining to counter the over a billion population of the largely homogeneous Han China, what happens when the Han Chinese pop out another billion or two people? Do even more countries need to join together to counter China? Annexation makes both us stronger while acknowledging and uniting us in our common heritage. We are brothers. That’s not globalist, quite the opposite, it’s recognizing we are of the same kind, and have the same goals. This isn’t a population race, to go in that direction, we would need a policy of natalism. Annexing puts us in a stronger postion for the future and unites us under a common banner. We have a lot in common, thus, we’d be better together under the same room.

It's of my opinion that the key to life is the balance between the yin and the yang. You need counterbalances in the world. Your first sentence is a truism. Even if I give it some weight, China will need to be counterbalanced if we want to preserve our culture or to avoid some horrible form of state capitalism… Do you want to live in a society where there’s no free speech. On another, more realistic level… do you want Chinese investors buying up all the world’s resources to enrich their own country? You want them to control your future, or the globalists, and you're opposed to doing something about it, even though that you and your neighbor for all purposes are the same person? A stand has to be taken to preserve our shared values.

If institutions like the European Union replicate themselves across the world (such as your example of USA/Canada merger), the end goal of that is a one world government. I can assure you that we will all be fucked i that ever happens and there is nothing to counter balance it. I’ve rebutted this already. Globalism is the opposite of the goal. I don’t advocate something in the vein of the EU, because the whole reason I suggest the project is because we have the same culture, some foreign policy goals, same economies, same values, and same heritage (to be clear: White Protestant predominately from England, speaking English as the language). Aligning along the lines of what I’m suggesting may in fact be the solution to globalism and one World government… uniting under who we are as a group of people with the same values. Such an arragment whereby they are annexed is done soley because we are so similar and both stand to gain. They get to retain their government. That’s like saying adding another state leads to one world government, because it’s expanisonist. You’re misunderstanding the argument. Globalism works on destroying nations (as I explained not doing that), destroying culture (again not doing that, if anything protecting our shared culture), destroying money (nope not doing that, and by the way USD is already the de facto global currency, but my contention is there are bigger money issues to worry about at the moment, like the fall of the USD as the Reserve currency, or better yet getting rid of cash) and enforced diversity (Canada is very homogenous so I don’t see the issue with a union, because we’re protecting ourselves).

Sorry my post wasn't very academic or researched this time, I largely just gave my opinion. It would be sad to see Canada lose it's culture and demographics if they merged with the USA though, I wouldn't wish that upon Canada even if they wish it upon themselves with their policies. They can retain it, the fact that they have any of their own unique culture is pretty cool. Just because Texas and California are in the same federation doesn’t mean they lose culture, anymore than Canada and US being in the same federation means they lose culture.
