Dude this sounds like some weak shit you would see in a will ferrel movie. Infact I think I've seen better game moves made in will farrel movies...by will ferrel.

Cold reading can be very effective in game because the topic of the conversation is your target and because it prompts them to divulge personal information about themselves.

For example, "I sense that you have a lot of unused capacity."

"Oh, that's right. I work at x doing y, but my dream is z! let me tell you about z . . . "

Before you started, you had no idea she did z or even cared about it, but as she tells you about the most important thing about herself (because in her mind you asked her about it), she bonds herself to you.

How often do you get the opportunity to tell someone about the most important thing to you?

Girls are into reading tarot cards, palm reading, astrology, so of course telepathy is a thing. I could imagine that it works. Will try it sometime.
