I found a biz here thats been rated really well on trip advisor, dont know if that accounts to much but hes booked solid for a week in advance and travels international 3 times a year to look after clients so he must be doing something right and he does multiple fittings on each suit so sounds positive so far.. anyway got the appointment next week, any of you guys got some hot suit pics, I wanna suit up Gmanifesto style, hopefully he sees this and can give me some ideas but all ive got is business style power suits need somethin with a little more style to it

when i was coming up, i wore suits to make people think i had made it already.

but now, i like it when i'm the guy not wearing a suit. when i look around and there is a room full of people and i'm the only guy not wearing a suit you know what that tells me? that i'm the man.

thats who you know the client is. everyone else is just there to do your bidding.

i have a closet full of suits, some $500, several $2500+. long gone are the days of me looking forward to wearing a suit

but i will say this - when i am in fact wearing a suit, people's reactions to me on the street are definitely different. with my look, i go from possibly being homeless and terrifying to being edgy and mysteriously conservative at the same time.

I got a suit, 2 sports coats, and 2 shirts made this week in Thailand. How do I get them back to the States best? I am flying with a backpack and duffle bag. Should I ship or fly with my suits?

Great tailor. I am very happy with the results. We need a suit thread just regarding reveiws of tailors at whatever location you got them made from.

Michael's Custom Clothes off Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles does the exact same thing. I've had a good experience here. Prices are 20% cheaper than quoted in the referenced article.

Trip to BKK for suits would be fun too.

What do you think overall? I am happy but may taper the pants a bit. Lapel is 2.5 inches. The lenght is pretty good. I wasnt "happy" when I was fitting for some reason. Then once he put the sleeve on I felt better. The other shop made me feel good.

My shirt was custom too but very loose. I dont know. Express slim fit is alot better to me. Maybe i should wear one of the shirts there to give them something to work with. Ended up buying three more blazers.

My opinion: sleeve looks too long, shoulders look funny, too loose at waist. This may all be because it's not 100% finished.

I like Express shirt's myself, and when they go on sale for about $30 a piece, I buy a bunch. They are not worth it at reg. prices ($65).

I have a bunch of them already, so I can't really just toss them all out yet. Their cut works pretty well for me (1MX), although the sleeves are a little long. I normally wear an undershirt, so the sweat thing is not an issue. I've layered thin sweaters over them and it worked out fine.

I've started getting stuff from Frank & Oak, which is this Canadian company. Their blazers and shirts fit me incredibly well.

TexasMade I have a Thomas Pink shirt which is about six inches longer than my other shirts and I love it to death. I'd definitely get longer shirts if I went custom.

Show us the final product! Are you in BKK? Did you get a good price?

Depends on what style you're aiming for. Since I love slim fit, this is my input:

- Shoulder too wide
- Shoulder pad should be thin(ner)
- Sleeve too long
- Sleeve too wide
- Suite length: 1 inch shorter for slim fit look
- Waist a bit thinner

But keep in mind at the end of the day, it is about fit.

I see a lot of people with nice fabric suits or name suits - but they don't look right. The fit is off. The great thing about a perfectly fitting suit is how good you feel in it - that extra oomph.

Especially, when you are sharper than the guys around you. You don't feel that way if the fit is off. I would rather buy a Brooks Brothers suit and have it tailored to fit me perfectly than to get Brioni or Zegna that doesn't fit well.

I didn't see it mentioned in the posts - but if you are going custom shirt - skip the pocket, no monograms and get nice buttons (mother of pearl). It shows class without trying too hard. Make sure your shirt is not a giant square - make sure it fits well.

Don't cheap out on the shoes. Don't open the jacket pockets (they are usually stitched down - you have to unstitch them. helps keep the shape. Get buttons in your pants for braces. You don't have to wear them but nice to have if you wanna jazz it up.

If you are tight on budget just get the basic colors but buy quality. Most people can't remember what suit you wore 2 days ago. Also, you don't usually wear the jack all day.

Buy 2 pairs of pants. The pants always wear out before the jacket.

Remember a lot of people won't know if the suit is custom or bespoke. Unless you show them your name on the inside of the jacket. They can only tell if it looks nice. So spend your money wisely. I may have custom suits, but I also have an awesome Brooks Brothers retail for over 1000 got it for 250 new that I got tailored and it looks friggin awesome.

There's really no reason for you to pick up a Brioni, Kiton, Zegna when you can travel to Asia and have a custom bespoke suit made x5 and have a great trip for the same price.

For 'normal' guys looking to dress better on a budget, just go to one of the M2M guys that tours the country while the suits/shirts are made back in HK.

FWIW, I think the custom-shirts are more key than a custom-suit. Nice shirts you wear every day, most guys don't wear suits more than 4-5 days a week, max. But you should get both.

Good advice. But take it a step further and get the shirts tailored as well.

I dont agree here. You need to pack stuff around, and your slacks pockets should not be able to hold much more than a billfold and maybe a lighter.

Yeah. I'm in BKK right now. Waiting on my suits then I leave in the morning. You are right about the sleeve length. Finished product coming soon. I still havent tried my other suits on yet. Will post pics.

You know there are thousands of tailors here so competition rules. My first suit was some off the wall spot but I was happy with the results. The key to suits is to know exactly what you want. Thats where I was fucked up at. The tailor can lead and guide you but you need to know what you want and tell them. We have a few threads on choosing. I didnt do enough research. The first set was impulse and the second set was impulse also. I should be back in May so I will be ready if I decide to buy more.

Thailand they want and need your business so you can get the price you want. Depends on the material. They say their Cotton is Italian, wool from England blah blah blah. It depends on the tailor. My last set I got him to throw an extra shirt and tie for 6000Baht which is roughly 200.

Already I got my sports coats back from my other tailor. After the first fail, which I am taking back I figure these would be as bad. It came out well.

Sleeves are slim and i think the length is perfect.
Shoulders look good but possible too much padding again.
Chest is perfect but I could take a little off the waist.
Finally, I wanted the length to be where my sleeves stop. I could lob an inch or two off to give it the blazer look.

Overall I am happy. Please let me know what you think. Im tryin to leave on Friday soI need to turn in today or tomorrow.

Other two blazers. The white defidently needs small pads. There is something off about it too. Maybe the sleeves. The plaid is perfect.

Note how Texasmade's jackets don't crease around over the belly when buttoned. That's a
sign of a good fit.

Looking good man! Wish I would have time to have a suit made at Raja's when I was in BKK but they needed two weeks.

Generally not a good idea. These brands are expert at leaving a minimum of fabric giving a tailor very little to work with. Also their stitch work is often of such quality that you don't want to risk exposing it.

I did an alton lane 'custom suit'

after the tailoring required, it is a $900 suit I hate.
