A fun game to play in Japan (and also I assume in Korea, China, Taiwan, etc) is when you meet a native girl who speaks good English to try to guess in which Western country she learned the language based on her accent. The easiest, I thought, to pick out were the ones who had lived in Canada. Hearing a Japanese girl bust out "geez" or "gosh" with a strong Canadian accent in an izakaya in the middle of Tokyo was funny.
