I don't believe that the 18% failure rate means that you will get a girl pregnant 18% of the time if you use condoms. I think it means something more abstract, like that if you use condoms as your primary form of birth control for a year, there's an 18% chance of pregnancy at some point.

So really the rate is 98% for the condom. When you combine that with the fact that you have to have sex in what is generally a 1-3 day window, you've got basically a 10% chance per month of landing in that period as the combo. So with zero knowledge of the girls cycle you've got a 0.002% chance of impregnating her with a condom used correctly. Throw in cycle knowledge and it's pretty much zero.

This is very dangerous information to put out there. Some people will think it's gospel and risk pregnancy.
A healthy woman with a regular cycle is fertile 7 days up to and including the 1st day of her period.
The last 3 days of her fertility window have increased fertility, building up until the a few hours before her period.

I.e The closer to her period she is the higher the chances she can get pregnant.
You can cum inside her in the morning on the day her period is supposed to show and still get her pregnant.

It can be up to 7 days in extreme circumstances, 6 days is even extreme. The chances of getting pregnant 5 days before ovulation is still less than 10% if you're actively trying. It's a 3 day window leading up to and including the day of ovulation where the chance of impregnation is ~30%, it's less than 20% on day 2 and 3 of that 6 day cycle as well.

The bold part is inherently wrong, it has nothing to do with her period and everything to do with ovulation, which occurs roughly around the midpoint between periods. Ovulation is the release of the ovum which has a 24 hour life only, which is why it's a miracle to get pregnant after ovulation (some women release multiple eggs and similar freak occurences that can cause pregnancies outside the ovulation time). The 1 week leading up to the period is the least likely time for pregnancy to occur as ovulation has occurred and the egg is long dead by this point in time.

It's technically possible to get pregnant on any day but it's basically a miracle on most of them with the odds being roughly 0% outside of the 6 days for an average woman.

It's ovulation that causes pregnancy, not a period.

Sperm lives 5 (sometimes more) days inside a vagina.

Therefore, 5 days before ovulation = very dangerous.

5 days before period = after ovulation, much less risk (still not worth it).

The closer she is to her period the less likely she'll get pregnant.

Yes, that's correct. Nevertheless 18% is still rather high.
Perhaps lots of these couples go raw often and later claim their primary form of birth control were condoms.

Oh and here there is a link to a thread I found on girls sharing experiences getting pregnant after they've been using condoms. I know that there is also a lot of shit going on those venues but it's kind of weird, not to say even worrying.
Is it possible that I listed all the possible scenarios? No one can't think of anything else? It's not about paranoia and I agree with Suits saying that being a player long-term is not for the faint hearted, I'm trying to understand other factors and minimizing the risk.

Yeah 14 days is the usual time after the period but before she become fertile again.

What i posted was what has been told to me by gyno's during in med school

Hormonal birth control can play with the timing of the egg leaving the ovaries.
Way beyond the what most people "think" is normal.
The time lines of what happens inside aren't what they used to be 20/30 years ago.


A few things should be known that have evolved over the years:
The egg doesn't have to be released on the 1st day of her period it can be released as late as the 3rd day, not common but it does happen.
One of the oby-gyno's told me it's become common to see a girl have her period and the it suddenly stop because she had unprotected sex during the 1st day of her period. Turns out the sperm fertilized the egg that was still in her uterus.
Many many people think it's safe to fuck raw and bust inside her when the girl is having her period, pregnancy wise its not safe not to mention how unsafe std wise it is.

Sperm can fertilize the egg in as quickly as 45 minutes up to 12hr is if there is an egg present and as long as 7 days within the uterus if there is no egg present.

Once the egg leaves the ovaries and settles into the uterus is stays there until it's fertilized by sperm.
It used to be 20 years ago it would 24 hours but now with all the birth control every girl is taking and exposures to other hormone altering compounds the eggs can last up to 72 hours.

I would expect that perfect use has 0% failure rate, I mean if it doesn't fail (break) then what can go wrong since no sperm gets to the other side of the rubber?

IMO the failure rate with the condom is linked to improper use.

1. Wrong size condom. If its to big it can slip off in the act, and your plowing can push it so far up in her, you may need to go to the hospital to get it out. If its too small, (really tight) it will break easier.

2. Improper lubrication. I know what some of you are saying already. "No need for lube, cause I always get my girls wet." Well guess what? After a woman has a strong orgasm she typically goes dry. Also for you guys that like to mess with girls north of 36 some of them cant get as wet as they used to. My recommendation is to use KY warming jelly. You dont need to apply more than the amount of toothpaste you would put on a toothbrush. Also DO NOT USE OIL BASED lubricants!! The most common being Johnson's baby oil or any kind of lotion. This will cause the condom to disintegrate.

3. Environmental factors. I banged in a hot tub once with a condom on. Guess what I was doing the next morning, running to get plan b. The heat from the hot water caused the condom to break.

4.Waiting to long to put it on. We have all been there. We tell ourselves we will put it on in a minute. We start making out. Next thing you know we are naked. Then are uglies are touching. You tell your self I will just rub her clit with my head and.....boom next thing to you know you are inside her! It feels so good you rationalize, How it is now too late for the condom!!!
