Just bought a first house, so next years job is to first secure the garage (it's not a high end house) then slowly turn it into a workshop.

Among basic things like a sturdy bench, vice and storage I want to build a small/medium size CNC mill with about a 500x300 mm bed.

Looking at a potentially very involved repair on my truck in the near future. It's been losing oil for a while and there have been drips on the ground below the engine for a while. Replaced the oil pan gasket and now the drips are gone but still pissing through oil (even worse than before actually). So I think I'm starting to narrow it down to maybe bad piston rings burning off my oil. If that is actually the case I'm going to need to pull my engine apart to fix it. Damn.

Run a compression test before you start pulling it apart. It could be a leak elsewhere or something like the turbo burning oil.

My truck doesn't have a turbo but yeah a compression test would be a good idea. Thanks!

^ 2007 Yukon Denali.

Update, ran wet and dry test and pretty confident it has worn piston rings. Along with that, a new problem has showed up that I detailed here:
