Hatred, ignorance, and insecurity are the new drugs of the people, and the elites are handing them out like hot cakes.

You said that African civilizations came after only after outside evidence. This is bad logic because, if you think about it, every civilization was birthed through the influence of another:

British, French, German, and Spanish civilizations were all the indirect result of Roman colonization -- had the Romans never invaded these areas, these civilizations would never have existed.

The Romans themselves would never have existed were it not for the influence of the Greeks.

The Khmers in Cambodia would never have existed without the influence of Hindu civilization in India.

No world civilization would have existed without the Sumerians, ancient Chinese, and ancient Indians discovering irrigation, the wheel, and other such basic inventions -- and then spreading them across the Old World.

The influence of one civilization on another does not make that other civilization necessarily inferior or worthless.

I will freely admit that this record is not quite as impressive as that of Europe, Asia or the Middle East -- but these are nonetheless respectable achievements and credit should be given to black Africans for producing them.

Saying that "outsiders" were responsible for these accomplishments just comes off as being wildly uninformed (at best) and being too butthurt and emotionally driven to admit that black people can do anything properly (at worst).

Yeah...you gotta look at things in context though. I'd argue that a lot of it had to do with culture, which has its own separate roots. To some extent climate and geology favored the evolution of tribal societies in Africa.

One big question mark is that we simply don't know how things would have turned out had Christianity become dominant in Africa rather than among the European tribes. It's entirely possible that the resulting culture would have become the dominant world society and we'd now be living in a world where we regard Europe as a frozen shithole where mentally ill white people continue to ruin their own society as we debate "black privilege".

Just look at the disparate outcomes between different US subcultures within the same race. Trailer park people don't enjoy much of that "white privilege" while non African American blacks tend to substantially outperform economically and socially while living here.

The Djenne mosque is significant because it represents an entire architectural style. It was first built in 1200 A.D and allowed to fall into disrepair. The French paid for it to be restored -- by Ismaila Traore, a black Malian.

It's a style of architecture that exists all over western Africa, like here with the Sankore Madrassah:

Now, are these buildings as intricate or advanced as the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, the Notre Dame Cathedral, or the Taj Mahal in India? Obviously not, but they still represent evidence of civilization and artistic talent.

I'm not arguing with the obvious fact that sub-Saharan civilizations were not as successful as their counterparts in India, Asia, Europe or the Middle East.

But I am arguing with the idea that black African civilizations were built by outsiders and that black Africans are incapable of building civilization in the first place.

I fully accept that Europeans have accomplished the most and have done the most for the world so far. Regardless of the fact that colonialism had some incredibly negative effects, it was a net positive for humanity in terms of technological and medical advancement.

I will, however, take issue with is tendency of some people (like our boy Laska) to claim that the legitimate achievements of other cultures just didn't happen. Or using completely incorrect evidence to suggest that black people were responsible for Rome's downfall. I think it's pathetic to refuse to accept that black Africans were capable of building civilizations on their own, regardless of how much evidence there is to the contrary.

No one on this site is going to say that all cultures have been equally successful. But to deny the legitimate accomplishments of certain cultures is pathetic.

I could point out several examples in North and East Africa that would surpass the Djenne mosque...I think that it's far from the pinnacle of African achievement.

There are the Kushite pyramids and the rock-cut churches of Ethiopia, for example, both of which I posted pictures of. Then plenty of monuments built in Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco -- the gates of Meknes for example:

So in terms of achievement, Africa as a whole certainly has some architectural and civilizational achievements to its name. And even if we wouldn't consider many North Africans to be "black" per se, the Kushites and Ethiopians would indisputably fit into that category. At their peak (around 800 B.C to 300 A.D for the Kushites, and 300 A.D to 1300 A.D for the Ethiopians), these empires were also significantly more wealthy, advanced, and powerful than large parts of Europe.

In 800 B.C, the Greeks were barely existant, Rome had not even been founded, and most of Europe was considered to be a barbaric wasteland; conversely the Kushites had conquered Egypt, were building pyramids, and were conducting trade with most of the world. Though Rome and Greece eventually formed into the most formidable civilizations on the planet, modern-day Germany, Scandinavia, and Russia were still completely uncivilized.

The Ethiopian empire of Axum was also considered to be one of the superpowers of the classical world, along with the Byzantine empire, China, and Sassanid Persia. This list was compiled by the Persian prophet Mani, who was one of the most educated people on the planet at that time. It's notable that none of the European barbarians who destroyed Rome were included on that list.

Black African civilizations just experienced their peak hundreds or thousands of years ago -- often during periods when large parts of Europe would be considered barbaric by anyone's standards.

The reason we know little about them is because archaeology in Africa is pathetic. There are 700,000 manuscripts from Timbuktu concerning everything from Malian history to astronomy to mathematics -- only a very few have been translated and studied. This is made worse by the security situation in Mali. Islamic jihadists recently occupied modern Timbuktu and destroyed many of its libraries -- a lot of them were spawned by Hillary's abysmal policies in Libya, though that's a story for another day.

And as I said earlier, Africa has constantly been undermined by its lack of useable resources. The slave trade was actually what spelled the demise of West African civilization -- what fucked over the already uncivilized parts of Africa spilled over to the civilized areas in the 17th century.
