I have a contrary view. The fans must realise that there's no such thing as the "nation's sport". That's a construct that leads to profits. The national anthem doesn't really belong in a commercial undertaking. It's as if the national anthem should be observed by early arriving shoppers waiting outside a Walmart before it opens. It is a trap, sucking in the gullible.

That sounds like the cultural relativist viewpoint that is trying to hamster away the meaning of the national anthem and justify the actions of the NFL. The NFL isn't viewed as the "nations sport" to begin with so that logic is lost on me. The anthem stands for national pride and honoring those that died for freedom, the protesters know this. They think their sacrilege in the name of social justice is the ultimate virtue signal. The fact that the movement is built on the lies of "racial police shootings" just compounds the stupidity and shame.

It's really impossible to overstate how out of touch these people are. They honestly believe they are scoring some sort of major victory here, when in actuality they're cutting their own throats. This controversy with the NFL is going to be for young Boomers and Gen X what Gamergate was for Millennials/Gen Z: a golfball-sized red pill forced down the throat. A wake-up call telling you that there is nowhere for you to escape from the Left's political insanity. They simply won't stop. Ever. This is a permanent revolution they have underway and they will literally destroy mankind before they decide their social justice project is finished. That's a hell of a realization for Joe Sixpack from Topeka who just wanted to relax and unwind on Sundays by watching some football. That's the kind of shit you can't unsee, that you can't forget about. And more than anything else, it's a betrayal, which stings worse than anything. The average Joe might know that Hollywood and Wall Street and Washington are up to no good, but can isolate them in his mind. They are remote forces that operate far from his everyday life. But NFL fans feel a much more intimate connection with the league and especially with their favorite team. Football in this country is a community, family and inter-generational affair. Identification with the home team becomes a piece of peoples' identity. This episode is essentially a stab in the back to every patriotic NFL fan. The fallout will be tremendous and far-reaching.

I think it's funny that Trump is trolling the NFL (i'm not a fan of the NFL) but I don't think there is any 88d chess going on. I truly believe if McCain didn't come out earlier that day saying he wouldn't vote for Graham-Cassidy, Trump wouldn't have said this.

AB I'd say it's the exact opposite. Majority of college football programs lose money. In reality it's college student loans that subsidize the majority of college athletics. With the NFL basically using college football as it's free developmental league, you could make the case that indebted impoverished college grads are subsidizing the NFL player pipeline. Man the more you delve into this, the more it becomes clear how corrupted the NFL and big league sports in general has become. The NFL really does need to die off at this point.

College football teams make money, the top schools at least.

They make enough money to pay a coach $8 million per year.

This is a bullshit orchestrated move from the higher-ups, to divide and conquer.

Why the NFL? Why not Baseball or some other sport.

It varies by university. Some universities have separate funding streams for their athletics programs writ large, often wealthy boosters/ticket sales/etc.

Other universities subsidize it from "student fees," which have been the largest drivers of tuition increases over the last 10 years.

This is possibly the best thing to ever happen during this administration. Trump is truly a genius. I still have no clue how a billionaire president has a such a good sense of what the public is feeling and important trends in the country.


Common ground in this country is dead. Every event is now political and you have to take sides. The wheels are in motion and now and there is no turning back.
Any award show, sports event, science event etc, will always be an opportunity for the left to push social justice. The good news is the average right winger generally has more money to spend and far more political leverage than an out of work actor/barista and his media oligarch future boss. The only way to win is to BANKRUPT your opponent. In order to do this you need to define your target accurately and outline a wide ranging bankrupting strategy. Your target needs to be the PARENT COMPANY and other SUBSIDIARIES that may or may not be involved in the current SJW push. Then, you need to reach out to your friends, allies and acquaintances or any person you can see who is persuadable and convince them to join your bankrupting strategy. This group needs to be as a diverse as possible.

For instance, its pretty easy to boycott espn, as most people are doing, because that cohort is all similar(MEN) but espn is owned by Disney, so you need to boycott every MARVEL film and in order for this strategy to occur you need allies(women). You also need to persuade your friends who have children in order to boycott DISNEY LAND and disney animated films.

You would be surprised how fast this works and how much pressure this puts on the parent company.

Finally, we need to have an end goal in mind. The end goal cannot be, fire this player or that actor because he said something you don't like. That means nothing and in the long run doesn't fix the problem. The end goal should be a REGULATED media market where DISNEY, COMCAST(NBC-UNIVERSAL), FOX, VIACOM, CBS, time-warner are all required to sell their subsidiaries. 6 companies should not own 90% of the market, it is bad for democracy. We need new rules like the Paramount Decree of 1949 where the studios were forced to sell the theaters because the court ruled it was a monopoly. Well a company that produces entertainment content cannot own a sports division or a news corporation.

Warner Bros and CNN cannot have the same owner!
Agencies and Talent management firms should also only be alowed to have one type of division. They can't have an entertainment division and a sports division. I don't think people here realize how much influence places like CAA or UTA have.

Taking the knee is a sign of weakness. You are bowing before someone or something else.

Trump stands for masculinity and demanding that one stands up straight and proud as an identity.

But the feminine is all about destroying individual identity, destroying difference/uniqueness, no one should be better, have more, everyone deserves a trophy just for existing, there should be no borders, etc. and all the other manifestations of the feminine vision of reality.

The country has been under the sway of the feminine for many decades now, but I never thought I'd see the day where American Football players become feminized like little cry-baby attention-whores. Next they will start tearing up and going on Dr. Phil.

And watching all the old NFL greats who are now announcers terrified to denounce the kneeling because they may lose their job if they support true masculinity as embodied by our current President.

The left is constantly throwing out a new outrage hoping it gains traction. Football is a target because it has a history of being a physical, tough, testosterone-fueled sport...every toxic masculine cliche the left hates. A few years ago it was the name "Redskins". Remember Phil Simms saying he would never say that name again? Well, he says it now. Then it's concussions, that one's ongoing, but it's more of a constant threat to owners.

Now, white people are getting on board because of peer pressure, white guilt and not wanting to be labeled as a problem in the locker room. Sure the NFL will be decimated but it helps them push the agenda so it's a win. Nothing will ever interfere with them pushing the agenda and they have a narrative ready no matter the outcome.
