I just ran across this on an alternative German news site and after dropping into Google Earth myself I could indeed not find a single Christian church that featured its cross on top of its tower. Perhaps bad luck of the draw? I encourage you all to pull up your local church in Google Earth and report your findings here. Apologies for the lousy auto-translate but I couldn't find any pertinent reports in English:

I was visiting someone who works at Google, and we were eating in the cafeteria. I brought up James Damore. Let's just say he REALLY didn't want to talk about it while we were there. He later remarked that talking about it would have probably gotten him fired if anyone overheard him defending that guy.

To the best of my knowledge, last time Germans removed crosses from churches was when the Leibstandarte SS took part in the Nazi invasion of France in 1940.

What's funny is this week German market chain Lidl has gotten into a bit of hot water for airbrushing crosses off of pictures of a Greek church on their line of Greek foods. I'd chalk this up as more German anti-Christian/anti-white than something Google unilaterally did although I'd be quite sure they were happy to oblige.

It would probably be the android graphics teams that would look at that, and only occasionally for an update. Much more effective would be switching to other browsers, search engines, emails, etc., especially free source stuff.

Clearly the only option here is to spend thousands of dollars and man-hours creating a duplicate google-maps with the crosses intact and then remove them all anyway after you get a threatening email from your DNS provider.
