Sam Shepard, 1943-2017
I was a little surprised nothing has been said so far about the passing of actor Sam Shepard. A lot of the female actors I know were quite sad. They loved him, even though he was 30 years older or more than they were. One even admitted that she had two different opportunities to talk to him and froze up both times.

He received his only Oscar nomination for his portrayal of pilot Chuck Yeager in the 1983 move The Right Stuff. The Right Stuff is a historical movie (which took some liberties) about seven pilots who were pioneers in the early days of the American space program. Yeager's most famous accomplishment was being the first pilot to fly faster than the speed of sound.

I doubt a movie like this would be made today. It's definitely red pill--it's about men taking chances and going "where no man has gone before." It portrays this masculinity in a very positive way.

But something else has happened as well. There used to be a fascination with space and the space program. Astronauts achieved celebrity status back then. John Glenn turned that celebrity into a political career. Chuck Yeager used to do commercials for AC Delco. That fascination doesn't exist anymore, and it's quite sad.

Shepard's personal life was also a success. He had a brief relationship with punk rocker Patti Smith in the 1970's, when he was just a playwright. His longest relationship was with actress Jessica Lange. That was from 1983 to 2009.

Shepard also won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979. We lost a good man. I'm sorry I never bothered to watch The Right Stuff until now.

RE: Sam Shepard, 1943-2017
I remember him best as the playwright that he was, and saw his plays "Buried Child,' True West," and "Fool for Love," many years ago.

One problem I have with artists I liked a long time ago is that I'm afraid that if I revisit their work after so many years, and more importantly, after being red pilled, is that massive blue pillery or cuckedness will be revealed to my new eyes and then there will go one of my childhood idols.

Too bad he is gone, though I am not rereading any of his plays to keep my memories intact.

Well put. So many of our previous heroes will fade upon a red-pilled reflection. I read Sam Shepard years ago and remember enjoying his work; I wonder if I would feel the same today. Either way...RIP.
