RE: Saint Petersburg 2017 Datasheet
I am in Saint Peter and need to issue some kind of warning:

DO YOUR DATES OUTSIDE THE CENTER

Petersburg is a big city, but most of the life is near Universities, near important metro stations and the center in general.

You will run into people you know from time to time, and their friends. Yes, I thought that was no reason to be paranoid. Then I walked into the same girl I was dating TWICE on different metro stations, 6h apart.

Here's the next warning if you are on dates.

DONT HOLD HANDS WITH YOUR DATES IN PUBLIC or similar romantic stuff. Plausible deniability at all times. It's just someone you know. Girls might find your behaviour rude and cold. But it will be better than the worst case scenario.

You can imagine why I am at 2:30am on my phone typing this. The worst case happened.

I walked into my into my main girl while on a date with a different girl. Holding hands. Currently dealing with the fallout of that. Not fun.

Even when girls 'kind of' know that you are not exclusive and are cool with it (as russian girls tend to be), it's a completely different situation when they actually see it in person.

So that's my advise that can save your trip and relationship in Saint Petersburg. I haven't really seen anyone discuss it before, so I hope I will save some guys from making the same mistake. If I do, please send a prayer that goes like 'thank that guy from the forum' to the heavens. If you see a shooting star after that it means I have heard you and am smiling upon you from the devushka olymp, like a martyred demi god.

@reciproke that really sucks man. I was a bit paranoid about that for a while too, although I only bumped into acquaintances while on dates and I also had girls bump into some of their friends.

I did mention though that this was only when I went on dates in Nevsky prospekt, which is why it feels more impersonal and is very busy at all times. The centre however is very big and this never happened during dates in chernishevskaya or vladimirskaya. This is also why I suggest not to rent an apartment right on Nevsky but rather in another central location.

Especially the parks in summer are eyes of needles, where everyone seems to pass through when the weather is great. Another girl wrote me today that she saw me with a girl at that place. She was cool with it, but it underlines my point to an almost ridiculous degree.

Quite a few girls suggests Cafe Singer as a meeting point. Before I started to know the city I went there and I realised it's a quite big chance to run in some familiar faces when you are standing there. Same thing if you are walking with a date on Rubinsteina. It happened there aswell.

Gopnik is on point. I went on a few dates on Kristovsky Island which is pretty good. Never bumped into anyone there.

And excellent English as well. Pretty impressive.

Having met him, I can confirm his Polish is very good too. Incredibly impressive ability to learn languages. They do say the more you learn the easier it gets.

Thanks guys

Honestly, with consistency and hard work, anyone can learn Russian or Polish for that matter. I'm sure the Russia veterans can confirm.

It does get easier once you speak few language. I learned Spanish as of my second language within 6 months, I was speaking with no problem, then I learned French but not as good as Spanish. Then, I started learning English when I was 19.

I think i can nail Portuguese if I live there few months, but again all these languages are Latin languages except English. I don't know if I can learn German or Greek that quick.

And by the way, girls learn languages much quickier than guys.

Hello to everyone. The datasheet is good and descriptive. I'd like to ask what percentage of girls 18-30 are speaking English, even in a basic level in SP? Also, are the bars/clubs busy every day or only on weekends?

I'd say 20% speak barely conversational english.

I didn't go out much during the week except for the odd Thursday perhaps.

Bars are fine pretty much any night of the week, but I think clubs are usually busy just Thursday-Saturday (not 100% sure on this though, during the summer clubs might get busy any night of the week, specially in Dumskaya).

Also, just realised I forgot to add two cheap student bars: killfish and SПБ ("SPB", written with the latin character "s" and пб in cyrillic characters.)

They are a close equivalent to Pijalnia in Poland and there's quite a few of them scattered around the city.

They are very cheap and I remember one time I was with some friends and a couple drunk russian guys approached us we ended up chatting up their cute friends (they were in a large, mixed group smoking sheesha and drinking). Overall, it's worth giving a try for pre-drinks.

When does it get less cold in St. Petersburg? Is it a decent place to go Spring of next year? Or still 40-50s, like cold USA (or colder)

Is Spring also a decent time to meet university students or other young people?

Get your passport ready!

After 3 years of hard work, I can finally say I’m fluent in Russian. I decided to sit the B2 exam (ТРКИ II уровень) mostly just as a way of setting myself a specific goal, although I recently found out it can also be useful for getting certain visas and residence permits. While I managed to pass the exam and I exclusively dated girls in Russian, I still struggle with certain sounds and pronunciations (for example, I still can’t say the fucking “Ы” sound correctly).

I fucking hate that sound, I'm 12 months in now myself and I still can't get close to doing it.

Great sheet.

I really liked SPB as a tourist spot, it's certainly a lot more European than Moscow, Samara or Penza where I've been so far. I was there in June which is close to the best time and I'd still say the weather was very ordinary, I can only imagine how bad it is during winter because I'd describe it as positively winterish in June. The Scarlett Sail festival is a great night to be there if you can plan around it, Nevsky Prospect turns into a pedestrian mall and with decent Russian it could basically be a victory procession for seamless gaming.

I thought the quality of women in SPB was noticeably worse than Moscow, Penza and Samara but still very much elite. I tend to like my girls a bit darker skinned but still with the light eyes which the more south eastern cities tend to have more of while SPB is more of the blue eyes, blond hair and paler skin, so if that's your thing I would think it's probably stronger than the other areas. As I said though, still absolutely elite, I'd say that only Pereira and Medellin in Colombia were considerably stronger (again, type, I have). SPB also has a lot more hipster folk which I generally find to be a very unattractive look.

SPB isn't cheap though, that's for sure. Little bit better than Moscow but a lot more expensive than the smaller cities still.

I just bought 3 match tickets for World Cup 2018. I'll be there for all games, I looked at AirBnB but I guess it's not that famous in Russia. I had only few apartments listed.

I've got 7 games in Moscow, will be there for 10 days or so. As a football lover, nothing is more exciting than adding it to the party + women mixture!

Agreed. I went to previous 3 World Cups. It was fantastic. So far, I got tickets for 3 games in Petersburg and 3 game tickets in Moscow.

I have to find out where Swedish fans will come to. They will come with minimum 60,000 fans, maybe even more.

I banged more Swedish girls than Italian girls in my life mrgreen

I got a thing for them. When I went to Euro 2012 in Ukraine/Poland, I had no idea that Swede's travel in pack to big tournaments like this, they built a small tent city in Kiev, there were more than 50,000 Swedish people.

I happened to hang out with them 10 days straight and I missed 2 Italy games because we had to play in Poland. Instead, I hung out with Swedish crowd in Kiev. Banged 6-7 Swedish girls in 10 days and some Ukrainians as well mrgreen

Russia 2018 won't be any different. I'll bang them even more, since they knocked us out. Word is that, they expect around 80,000 Swedish fans to Russia this tournament.

This is going to be my first apart from the previous here in Brazil (which I couldn't enjoy fully). How did you get to meet them? Fan fests? I wonder how crazy the nightlife will be with the massive influx of people!

They're really weird, man. They build a tent city, so it's nonstop drinking 24 hours at the tent city and as also as at bars. They usually go with very large crowd to pubs or wherever they're drinking at, so it's very easy to approach them. When you see girls with like 7-8 guys, I used to go and talk anything related football, then hitting on girls. They dont care at all.

One time, I was talking to these 5 dudes, there were 2 girls next to them. I started saying something about Ibrahimovic, within 5 mins, I started talking to girls. This dude goes like, oh man you're hitting on my sister? I said I didn't know. He goes like, it's alright she broke up from her boyfriend. Show her some good time mrgreen
