This is not new.

I know of someone who used to make these kinds of things custom. They are "designed" for mothers who lost their baby before or right after childbirth. I am unsure if it ever helped but reborns creep me out.

The "babyclon" of course is a lot worse. I wouldnt want to be around anyone using it for "grief".

Creepy as hell I would admit, but I am sure that these will be used to "cure loneliness" in Japan as well as the Teletubbies that they are using now. Not that the elderly people in Japan are going to be using them inappropriately on average, just that they wont work in doing the job.
