I love that this forum now has a thread for lunatic Evergreen College. My alma mater is also well known for its far-left shenanigans, but universities have clearly entered a new level of madness in the last decade. The sixties were a time of campus turmoil, including the Kent State shootings, but at least they had something legitimate to protest against (draft, Vietnam war).

My best guess is that within a few decades, if not sooner, universities will in fact be defunded and increasingly abandoned as the general public sees them more clearly for that they have become. They will be forced to undergo a change in focus, mission and size. My greatest fear is that university-brainwashed SJWs will move into leadership roles and destroy society. Unfortunately, that project is well underway, but I'm hopeful that the damage is reversible. Generations can be cyclical in their views.

But these two left-of-center members could be forgiven for thinking you have the sympathies of a far-right para-militant, given that your avatar is a guy shooting a pistol, your hair/facial style/appearance matches that of the guy from American History X, and you've recently made those two pro-far-right-violence comments.

This forum is probably the strictest online community I've yet to witness, where any misdemeanors or straying-off-the-line tends to result in permanent banning, even for long term, reputable, or highly valuable members. So I'm not sure whether these two (relative) liberal members' snarky responses are due to them being liberals, or due to them trying to register protest as indirectly as possible to avoid banning. But their responses aren't unreasonable.

That would be a fair point, were it not for the explanatory post which followed up my first supposedly violent statement.

The statement in question was a quote from one of the greatest films of all time - Apocalypse Now - which I (incorrectly) assumed was as widely recognized today as it was ten years ago.

The context of the quote was that Atlanta Man was alleging that racial animus was present in the recent trend of the board to lean towards law and order; that we only seem to get upset over Black crime, while ignoring similar degeneracy amongst Whites.

I feel him; there's a huge segment of the Alt Right which is precisely as he would describe, and they sicken me. The want White countries for White people so that we can engage in White depravity.

That said, I think he's overstating the case of this message board being racist. So to make a rhetorical point, I said "Hey man - I despise these degenerate Whites as much as I despise degenerate Blacks," and then I quoted a famous movie quote, which I assumed would be taken ironically.

I then got accused of promoting violence by Suits. I suppose I'd better not write "Space Marines Assemble!" in his presence, else I'll be accused of promoting insecticide.

I followed up with a post elaborating on what should have been obvious, but they both chose to ignore it, and to again accuse me of saying something I didn't say on this thread.

Disagreeing with me is one thing; willfully quoting me out of context to prove some sort of pathetic point is another. I love engaging with people who disagree with me; but I cannot abide smug ignoramuses who are more interested in winning the debate, then getting to the point.

TL;DR: once could be a justifiable error; twice demands an apology and an admission of wrongdoing.

Still waiting for your apology, Suits. You knowing quoted me out of context; be a man and address what I actually said, not what your feels think I said.

I always figured myself to lean more towards the right, but if disliking violence against weaker mentally ill members of our society makes me left I am unable to argue that.

Phoenix's eyes are definitely experienced enough to see the general reason behind peoples actions here.

While the majority of students, faculty, and staff are fully engaged in the teaching and learning work of the college, a few are on a destructive course of action that hurts themselves and gives a distorted and false impression of our community.

This behavior is wrong and must stop. It does not represent us, and we will not allow it to define us.

Our students are as always Evergreen’s top priority. We must continue to support our faculty and staff, who are educators by intent, action, and example. Evergreen Police Services will remain an essential part of ensuring safety for all. Campus remains open and classes are in session.

Conversations about equity and free speech will continue. These are incredibly complex issues to navigate. We at Evergreen have the courage to try. With tolerance and respect, my belief is that we can succeed, and continue to learn from each other.

This is just like Orwell's Animal Farm.

The radical hippies of the 60's and 70's took over our education systems and now run the farm. They have run it to the ground and now can't control the animals that are coming up after them.

What a shame. Western civilization will rue the day when we cast aside teachers and professors with gravitas like C.S. Lewis and exchanged them for people like Bell Hooks and Maya Angelou.
