The Savate is the French martial arts, it's the European equivalent of tae kwon do and kendo (baton or canne/stickfighting), with some grappling thrown in.





The baton is a lot of fun, did some in school, it uses some techniques of longsword and quarterstaff.









Much more interesting than fencing, you can really whack your opponent, and spar with sticks
thicker than those competition ones above. Best damn European martial art out there.

It's an old martial art that was practiced by the military, it used to be more popular,
but inner city kids now prefer muay thai an jiu jitsu, though Savate is
still practiced in French law enforcement and military circles.
