French people have discovered with this sad situation, that there is a militant, LBGT syndicate within the police. Whereas nationalist syndicates have been dismantled and forbidden.

But, mind you, no such gay syndicate in the Gendarmerie (prestigious militarized provincial police), which explains that the dead policeman had been removed from the Gendarmerie (Gendarmes live with their families and children within their own compounds, and thus, don't tolerate openly-gay, flamboyant couples among them), some time ago.
