My recommendation is don`t do it especially as you are in your late 20´s. I actually applied for this a couple of years back as I have a Commercial Pilot´s licence and wanted to get into the industry in order to build up my network . I was offered the job but having thought it through carefully I took a sales gig that pays triple and I use the extra money to travel whilst keeping up my flying hours as a hobby.

For the guys that keep going on about the job being full off gays, this is a non issue as far as I am concerned. I have a family member who works on the International routes and he is always banging his FEMALE colleagues as well as having a plate spinning in multiple locations. If you want to bang girls who cares that you are working with a bunch of gays, it means less competition. For female non work colleagues you just tell them you are the pilot!

Briefly the Pros and Cons (focused on International Airlines not US Domestic)

Pros:
See the world on someone else´s dime
Work with young cute girls who are adventurous and you can bang easily
90 hours max a month, this leaves you a ton of time to work on a side gig and maximize your income.
Not challenging work

Cons:
You are a glorified waiter, no skills learnt apart from serving food and coffee
Start at the bottom no choice on routes
Will work holidays and miss important events like birthdays, nights out with your friends etc
Once you have visited most locations for the 10th time you will be bored and will probably just stay in the hotel to get some sleep instead of heading out to pick up.
Not a long term career

If I was just out of college at 21 then I would seriously consider the job for a max of 3 years before shifting into a career that actual gives me useful skills. This would give me some awesome experiences, staying in great hotels and earning money to pay off debt whilst satisfying my wanderlust. I would probably gun for trying to get a job with Qatar, Emirates, Etihad etc for the good pay and destinations.

I would never consider this career on Domestic or short haul routes and not in the US.

I can't stand to be in a hotel lobby when a bunch of them are getting together before a flight. They stand there and tell each other how cool they are and how amazing it is to be them. All the while they are walking human garbage.

I agree with this 100%. I don't have first hand info, but I've banged a couple of ex-airport employees and I've met a few flight attendants here and there. Take the cuntiest, rudest, stuck up girl you know then double that attitude and you get a flight attendant-- all they do is talk shit about people and the contempt and hatred they feel for the average person drips from every word. They're also sluttiest sluts that ever slutted. If you look like you got money, or you're a pliot, or if you're like a friend of mine and you're very jacked, they will take you into the employees lounge or an empty office at the airport and let you fuck them.

The ex-airport employee girls both told me most people in the flight industry are sex addicted egotists. That flights are often delayed not because of plane malfunctions or whatnot, but because gate agents and/or flight staff are off somewhere fucking someone instead of meeting their timings to be at work. And yes, even the married ones. Sometimes especially the married ones. Also, yeah, the male flight attendants are often gay and the straight ones are the laughing stocks of everyone else. They get zero respect from anyone.

Do you guys have some information about flight safety job? It should be called "sky sheriff" or "flight sheriff", I don´t remember exactly. It should be the guy, who travels like normal passenger, but is armed and trained to eliminate any threats during flight. I´ve heard once about it, but can´t get any information.

I hope you don't just think about becoming one. When we opened our FA position to the public, we had 300k applicants. I think we hired 3k. Future positions will be filled by the 300k. I would apply to every airline right now. Consider it when you get the offer. I think SPIRIT is hiring as we speak. I dont know about the rest of the major carriers. Also when training, stay focused. It's hard and fast training. Most people are too busy spending their per diem, drinking and smashing potential attendants. The scripts are long and tough to remember. I dont think I would pass.

Once you are in, nothing happens on a plane. You are literally a waiter. You just have to deal with the 5% of assholes who fly.

If you want to make it a career, go with Delta. Top paying in the industry, only have 6 reserve days a month, and treats their employees way better than the others (besides Southwest, but no overseas flying). The position is very competitive and tough to get.

If you just want to have fun for a few years, go with Emirates or one of the bigger Middle Eastern lines. I believe at Emirates you get a $100 spending allowance for each layover, tax free salary, free accommodation in Dubai, free transportation to and from the airport, and they put you up in 5-star hotels wherever you go but... you have to live in Dubai. I imagine it's glamour would wear quick.

Another option is working for a regional. You gain seniority 10X faster than the majors allowing more flexibility in creating your schedule, you get all the carriers benefits you fly under (including the top US majors), and you only work 1 or 2 FA aircraft if you're worried about working with annoying co-workers.

The pay is bad, but you have tons of time off to do anything on the side, or travel.

I just recently had a few weeks off. Flew off and fucked around in Europe for a week then went home to chill out. I have almost a month off next month, trying to decide where to go still. Flew to and from Europe multiple times last year in business class for free (just pay international taxes from whatever country I fly back from). It's very easy to take the job for granted. You can certainly have worse jobs.

If I do anything else, it'll most likely be in the aviation industry as having the freedom to hop on a plane and go pretty much anywhere for free or very cheap is very addicting.

-live anywhere in the country (just have to commute to show up to work)
-free travel
-some great co-workers
-bases in many major US cities
-flexibility to create your own schedule (depends who you work for/where you're based/seniority)
-lots of time off to pursue other things/travel
-work when everyone's on vacation, vacation when everyone's working
-easy work
-leave your job at the door. Don't have to take any work home with you
-work with different people on every trip

Cons-
-bad pay (OK after many years at majors)
-will work weekends/holidays with low seniority
-reserve periods (on-call)
-some shit co-workers (like any job)
-crew scheduling
-away from home a lot
-lack of respect from some people like any service job, although most are respectful.
-the job itself is unrewarding/unfulfilling

I had a landlord who was a ramp agent. The pay is good because it is a very demanding job physically. Lots of people are weeded out during the training process. Hours are also more consistent than flight attendant.

If you fly for work, you won't be making up your schedule. You may not have time to visit these places where you go. This a complaint I've heard from flight attendants.

In his tell-all baseball book Ball Four, Jim Bouton wrote that baseball players often hooked up with stewardesses. They were both on the road and had the opportunity. So, they did it.

Another thing to consider is that you will have to pass a background check with the FBI for any airline job. If you can't pass that, forget it.

If its a year or two gig I say go for it. Anyone who gives a shit about being called gay based on a profession is probably a faggot. If ever questioned tell them you want to see the world on company dime. Legit.

From my experience most flight attendants I've met hated their jobs with a passion.
