In a world of /Pol, the chans and the bored lives of many interne tusers you'd think the legions of connectred devices being used as trolling mechanisms would wake people up.

I remmeber going on a website dedicated to showing unprotected CCTV, both private and public domains. The chans would fuck around with people in real time.

Nah, don't work like that. You need a device to keep your 3 year old occupied. Reading an article today. A pervert, fat man, exposed his private parts to some young girls. A mother was outraged.

She said: just what the fuck is a fat pervert doing taking over my parenting when I give it up. It's an outrage?

Said mother, gives 3 year old a device. An iPhone, tablet, whatever, and she is outraged by a fat pervert. I think the fat pervert did you a service little sister.

What the living fuck are you doing giving your fucking 3 year old an internet connected device run by (those) people? You abdicate your responsibility and shift blame to internet entrepreneurs. Cunt you are.

As for all the insecured cams. Knock yourself out. I got bored with it, though. Insecam.org is one. Shodan is the search engine but you have to pay for more than 30 searches or something. All CIA/FBI logged. I went through a VPN and Tor, but I'm bragging about it on a monitored forum so it doesn't say much about me and my persec/opsec, does it?

Fuck it.

The insecam thing was just to show how blase the whole unsecured not changed the default password of my baby monitor/back yard monitor, is.

Still going on. Still not changing passwords. Billions of more devices. Search engines getting better. Panasonic? Always a good one.

One of my favourites was actually turning the camera in real time to the people in the room. Then watching them freak out a bit. They always ran away or left the room after that one. Don't blame them.

Imagine you are in a room. There is a camera. You ask: is that switched on? "Oh no, certainly not". Very good. 20 seconds later. Swisshhh Buzzz locate - directly pointing at you, following you around the room...

It's fun for a while, and sometimes when you come back the next day, the password has been changed. But usually not. These people do not have a clue. They have been warned. The people know. But no, it's fucking internet up my toaster bitches I dare you.

Good.

There were feeds to all kinds of things, baby monitors, school classrooms. Pretty boring to me. I really liked the dude weeds front room where the bands would play and they would bong and play instruments. A wifey would come in now and again with sandwiches. No I'm not fantasizing, this really did happen. And they would have some sammiches smoke a bowl tune up and play on. Food of love.

Fuck me, and there's me in old Blighty wondering why my great grandfather bothered bombing the shit out of Dresden. No central heating. Clothes made of rags. Shops ten miles away. Only sheep for company.

But it wasn't all bad. Reception areas in hotels and internet cafes have all kinds of interesting shit going on. What a way to lead a life. Talking about me, not them.

Now we have internet powered vibrators, toasters, hat-stands, central-heating systems. We have not begun to play about yet. But we will.

All that is important is this: that the government of the day can spy on any of their citizens in real time, in their living room, while they fuck, while they shit.

You thought I was bad eh?

This shit is programmed in to the lowest level of every device and OS and network. They have a fetish, a sickness. They need to see little girls shit on the pot. Old grannies still whacking it off. Whatever. It's all good to them. They love the boundaries of human nature. And only can they find them by 24 hour surveillance and internet connected cameras.

But let us not forget the microphones... Ah ah..aah Ahhh a hhha ahh.

There's fun to be had lads, when you have no god and no master.

Shit, I wish the offy didn't close at 11. I was just getting warmed up.

Toodle pip.

Well, it had to. Staying too long in the Gamma Megathread is itself gamma.

It's why I left.

And I won't be going back there any time soon, either.

Gotta admit. Pretty hard to stay away. I am forcing myself not to write a ten page datasheet on gammas. Still might. Look at Vox Day. He can't shut up about them.

You all may think this behaviour was a terrible affront to a consumer's rights, but to the triggered tech nerd on the other end is was merely an extended declaration of "I am right". He interfaces with machines, and "better than you!" he will add, and interfacing with humans in a socially acceptable and constructive manner is a trite afterthought.

I remember being on a project once where the project was running behind schedule, mostly due to one of the team members posturing about how good his part of the project was going to be. So he consumed 80% of the project time just doing his part. Of course, we told him "your part is upstream of our part, and we can't do our work until you're done"; but I think that aroused him a little: now it was guaranteed he would be the smartest and most right, because by eating up the whole project time while we waited, the cunt could say "look, I did my part fantastically, and they failed completely!".

So I simply went ahead and made a crude functional replica of his part of the project, in a few days, and used that on the rig to test my part of the project. I then told the team I had done this, and "please don't remove it while I'm testing my part". They all agreed, including the cunt. Sure enough, that spurred the fucker to action. He'd taken it off and replaced it with his half-functioning part, within a day of getting that request and agreeing to it. He then had to debug it for a week because it was a piece of shit, again barring me from finishing my work. But all of this was of course reasonable behaviour because he got the best marks at Uni and he was the most clever clever boy, so I assume his daddy said. Needless to say the project was fucked.

This is why, contrary to the "they don't do anything" grumbles of spergy tech types, you need ass-kicking bastard managers, just to keep the boot firmly on these fuckers necks and stop them sperging out.

Spergs are the fucking worst. They have their uses. But just keep them on a short/long leash as suits your purposes. They will never know. They are easy to fool.

It's easy to make them your friend, and it's just as easy to make them your enemy. Both take a bit of forethought. Not difficult though.

But be warned, setting one sperg against another can result in a nuclear meltdown that no amount of sand can fix. You have not witnessed fighting until you have seen two top spergs have it out. It is glorious.

Really, it's better to bite the bullet and get these retards with the program early on, then they will love you for life and even help you invade Poland! But cross them by not double-buttering their already bespoke lettuce and goldfish sammich? DEATH TO YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FATHERS, YOUR FATHERS FATHER'S FATHERS. Kind of thing.

Shit, I think I might have just sperged out again. I just can't help myself these days.

I get most of my knowledge with them by dealing with them. I'd rather not. Very few people annoy me as much as spergs. Their sheer fucking rage over perceived slights is not normal. If they shut the fuck up it would be ok, but they will spend years of their life to undermine you.

It's not called a neurological condition for nothing.

Anyway, back to the internet of things. Where the spergs really will reign supreme once they get it hacked - baby monitors, fridges, the whole enchilada once they figure it out. You'll be lying peaceful in your bed at night, and some cunt with deep sunken eyes will take great pleasure in watching your water-bed piss itself all over your bedroom floor, electrocuting you and your new girlfriend in the process. Not to mention the insurance costs that he will have already worked out for your particular address.

It really is easier to give them a biscuit and pat them on the head than to let things advance to this stage.

But I have said too much already.

It's the Sigmas I'm interested in.

I'm not an Alpha.
I'm not a beta.
I'm not a gamma.
What could I be?

I know it's a load of bollox. But it's a fun game to play.

What, a different case? I figured this would be about the Garadget incident a few days ago.

Basically, same story. Even had to do with a garage door device. Guy bought device, device didn't work, guy didn't immediately get help from the support people and posted bad reviews online. Then the owner of the company bricked it by canceling the buyer's cloud access, which is required for the device to work.

And of course once it popped up on Hacker News, it blew up and tons of outlets ran the story. There were reporters trying to get in touch with the aggrieved customer in the amazon review comments. Laugh I wouldn't be surprised if it results in legal action of some kind, and the brand new company is probably fucked.

Some of these people in tech companies are retarded, gotta say.

And yeah, the garage door connected to the internet shit is stupid. I would never allow any kind of control of my doors over the internet. The most I would ever do--and I probably would not even do this--is set up sensors around my doors, then pipe their status to a fairly secure site where I could log in and see if the doors were closed, based on what the sensors were reporting. If I wanted to get fancy, I could set it up so I could tell if deadbolts were thrown or not. But since I'm pretty sure I've never failed to close and lock up my house since I was a teenager, I can't be bothered to do all that. Maybe when I have kids I'll worry about that sort of smart home bullshit, if I can keep third parties entirely out of the loop.

This. How hard is it to not forget to close your doors on the way out? Has people forgetting to lock their doors really ever been a widespread problem? These tech companies are sitting here pretending they're solving a problem equivalent to world hunger when in reality their product is an ill-conceived gimmick. Reminds me of that high-tech cup that came out a few years:
