Peterson looks to be coming out with another book this coming January. I'm not enough of a fanboy to pre-order that far in advance but definitely intrigued by the title based on the talks of his that grab me most.

I too bought the Self Authoring Suite just a couple of weeks ago.

It's important to realize that the suite is sort of like a meditative exercise in that it prompts you to sort yourself out with questions suited towards where you see yourself in the future, (and also where you don't want to be in the future) what you value in the present, and what events in your past you may be subconsciously holding on to that are impeding your progress.

For myself, as I also suspect is common for other men on this forum, once you actually sit down and piece together your life, you are going to be surprised about the things that you deem important. For myself, I was still holding on to a lot of failure and regret from my grade school days that seemed to compound itself and effect my decisions for the rest of my life.

The suite does not give you all the answers, only you can do that through self reflection. But it's important that you start to choose your path NOW before your path is chosen for you.

If you're in a position in your life where you feel directionless and purposeless then this suite should help you in sorting yourself out.

That's a great clip. However your eventual [past 30-35] authentic identity is not chosen - it's something that has been chosen for you from above. And this shows that despite all the talk about God and Christianity, JBP is still a *psychologist* first and foremost and not even transpersonal at that. That's why he is so popular - his path does not push one into the harshest of sacrifices and keeps it relatively light and steeping out of one's culture of birth

I think he targets millennials in most of his stuff. It sounds like his audience is pretty young on average. I'm sure there are many exceptions but on a broader scale I don't think this would appeal to people over a certain age.

Brilliant video about Abrahams journey out of his fathers household. It is especially meaningful to me as that is the part I am struggling with the most, leaving for the unknown.


I am still confused about what the authoring program is. Can someone give an example "question" that is in it?

Does someone on his team review what you wrote and give psychological advice or something lol?

Im definitely interested in it but need more info about what it actually is.

I did it a while ago, but essentially it asks you to think for a long time on each question and write a lot of text for each answer. Things like "in what ways have you let down yourself?" or "where would you like to be, in terms of social relationships, in 5 years?".

Those are not exact question, but they will give you the general gist.

It's basically like fast-forward journalling your entire life, past present and future, in a few hour sessions.

The questions are not leading, but I reckon they are structured for a reason.

Then you get a copy of what you wrote at the end so you can read it... and the craziest thing is that even though you just wrote it you will still be surprised at the picture of your life you just compiled.

It is very draining, actually. In a good way.

I was watching the James Damore video on 2x speed and James' speaking abilities were still getting on my nerves.
He seems like those very intellectual people who are slightly autistic in nature.

I was pleased to see how Peterson gave him advice on what he should do in the next few months especially with regards to the media and PR.

He should 100% mentor this dude for the next while because if he is left alone without any guidance, he will be eaten alive by the media, since he lacks the emotional intelligence to navigate the scene.

I hope he is just trying to play it safe on the topic of homosexuality rather than actually believing that the Bible doesnt condemn it. If he is trying to play it safe, I 100 % respect that as he already has a lot of heat on him.

His subheading will become painfully obvious to anyone reading the entire Sodom & Gomorrah story.

Angels coming in to see how men react is a repeated theme in the Old Testament.

The S&D story is particularly memorable because after Lot brings in the strangers to protect them from the bugger-hungry mob, he offers up his young daughters in their place. So if the story were simply about sodomy and filth, I would say Lot own-goaled himself with that move.

It's quite obviously about being open to strangers and helping those in need. Perhaps to prepare the world to receive Christ when he comes... I'm not as clear on the implications.

So he's making a point about the significance of the S&D story, not that homos are right or wrong. It's inconsequential for this study.
