The law in this case basically follows morals. You can defend yourself against someone assaulting you but you're not justified in using such disparate force. Someone throwing a drink on you (come on Mage, it's ridiculous to think the guy would assume that it was acid in her cup unless there's some context I'm unaware of) is NOT a free get out of jail card.

A person that size swinging that hard at a person that much smaller than him (especially a female that has smaller/weaker bones) is many levels of force above her assault. There's every sense in defending yourself, but no sense in potentially ending someone's life over a drink thrown.

The odds are that a ghetto looking fella in "Murder capital of the USA" New Orleans probably didn't get a drink tossed in his face by a white girl for absolutely no reason. Much as I dislike white girls, statistically speaking in a confrontation between a white girl and a ghetto dweller from New Orleans or South Side of Chicago the ghetto dweller will have been the cause of the problem 99 out of 100 times. There is a reason those places are deadly shitholes, and it's not the air or the white girls passing through.

The black dude's reaction to the girl not even yet having thrown a drink at him is probably proof enough that he was not an innocent bystander in this whole business.

Was the girl stupid for doing what she did? Yep. Should the dude be locked away in prison for a long time for assault? Damn straight.

Yep. If someone throws a drink on you and you hit them and seriously injure or kill them you're going to jail for a decent amount of time, anywhere in the US. The legal system will definitely not be interested in your "self defense" story.

Nah, it's not that she deserves sympathy because she doesn't. The problem is that if anyone is going to "teach her a lesson" you definitely wouldn't want it to be you, for pretty obvious reasons.

And I finally in good conscience can't cheerlead other men doing the dirt and suffering the consequences for committing a crime (because that's what it is) there's no way in hell I would commit myself. It's dishonest to expect others to fight your "battles" for you.

None of us know the context of the situation. The video is far to short and does not show the lead up.

What annoyed me more was the instant activation of white knights. These always, without context or care for ether side of a situation will always hop in.

The dude in question, pink panther, overeacted, of course. But he was dammed if he did, dammed if he don't. If you don't put water on these ghetto fires they always escalate and spread. Him using a arm to lock her into position to jostle her firmly but not cause harm would do still be seen as provocative actions which would of been met by her ghetto female friends then jumping in at a level they are open with (non physical), and still would of brought on white Knights as well. So what do you do? It is easy to sit her playing Monday morning QB, but in as split second in a public domain like that with drunk people and holligans all around what do you do?

Your options are verbal, walk away, go full retard on the bitch, or a "appropriate response", all optics leave you open to retaliation and possible physical harm from White Knights aside from the walking away option. The only 100% clear option is to walk away, anything else you expose yourself big time. So for this guy he chose to thrown gas on it in hopes a big flame gets doused quickly versus a slow burn that could easily blown up into something bigger.

The only thing that seems to stop girl from provactive behavior like this is when a dude visibly looks like he lifts. Does not matter how drink a butch is if she can see that you bench press more or double her size she can easily from a animal and lizard brain perspective do a quick analysis that the man could kill her with one hand. She would of never tossed the drink if dude looked like he knew his way around a gym.

I can't personally answer what I would do because I never find myself in those situations. I would not even get myself in a situation where a girl would think it's a good idea to toss a drink on me.
