Agreed. The long-term trend lines all seem to be converging in one direction: controlling and channeling the male sexual instinct for unrestricted benefit of women to the detriment of men.

Yeah there's a counter showing the number of people who've viewed your status. Obviously if you regularly open the same girl's new statuses it's sort of similar to "following" them.

I dunno, this still seems to me to be a great game tool. Post status's of yourself doing cool shit, see which girls check you out, game and close. This can be another way of reopening a girl you previously talked too. Also a way to make girls hamsters go into overdrive.

Yeah, the data facebook is collecting is alarming, but strictly from a game perspective I don't see any issues. If a girl can triangulate that you are banging other hot girls, sounds like a win.

I got burned by Snapchat and their Quick Add feature that scans your phone contact list. I clicked the X for a girl but it proceeded to add her. These apps force you to be neurotic with concealing your privacy.

If you turn off Read Receipts it won't show that you've viewed their Status, or read their messages.

That and turning off 'Last Seen' time is a must-have for keeping the hamster spinning.

here's how to disable read receipts:

Open WhatsApp and tap three vertical dots icon on the top right.

Now go to Settings > Account > Privacy.

Uncheck Read receipts.

Ok I'm very familiar with that but I haven't tested its applicability to concealing the fact that you have opened a contact's status. There's no mention of that in the privacy section.
I'll verify via Google then.

edit - haven't found anything yet on how to hide that you've opened a status. I wonder if there won't be an option to do so, as the rumoured purpose of this latest app update is for FB to bring advertising into WhatsApp.
