There are lots of good reasons to learn self-defense but I don't consider "You need to learn to fight better to fight guys like me who like to fight" to be one of them, exactly.

The "five ninjas"-type situation where one gets asked "But what would you do if you don't know how to fight well and a bunch of guys follow you out to your car looking to smash your head in" has been done to death on other forums and is hardly worth mentioning. The short version is God help you, as you've made a really serious error somewhere.

I do my fighting in the ring! Fighting for men is better than sex if you ask me! We are design to fight to protect our family and love ones where if you can't fight, you have a huge void inside of you. Women can pick up on this if you can protect her or not where they will orbit you if you can fight! It's a huge boost to your confidence and sex esteem!

Used to be all good clean fun, now its drugs, knives and kicking you in the head when you are out.

I worked a college campus in a mostly white town, a dive bar in Kentucky, a upscale nightclub and was head of security at a rooftop pool/ nightclub in PDF, Mexico.

The worst by far was college campus. It was all white and not "ghetto" in the least. I've seen sucker punching, jumpings, ten on ten brawls.

Many times the attackers will get emboldened by a submissive/passive attitude. Sometimes people go out looking for a fight. Your opinion doesn't match what I've seen first hand dozens of times. People will hit you to try and start a fight. I've seen it happen many many times.

I know exactly what you mean. I saw this video this morning and your post reminded me of it. This video is a bunch of fights where people took out their guns.. like what the hell? I'm not a anti-gun person or am I pro-gun, but damn..

When I was a kid I would punch anyone who stepped on my toes left right left through their chin til they dropped like my father told me in 5th grade when I complained about bullying. By the time I had grown to 6'3" and been thrown out of my third school people learned I didn't think talking shit was funny and I didn't need to fight. If I have a son I will tell him to do the same unless they start putting kids away for years over some schoolyard bullshit.

As a big grown ass man I've probably gotten in less than 10 fights. I don't snap over words I only get into fight or flight if someone won't back down or it's beyond someone talking shit such as stealing from me.

I think tall dudes built for football have it made in terms of not needing to fight as we don't often get tested.

Fighting is not a fun hobby once you're grown, every fight is life or death, there could be reinforcements around the corner (every additional person you fight exponentially increases the threat) or a weapon you don't know about etc. Legal problems could result also.

With the fights I've had as an adult best result was a few busted knuckles, worst was being outnumbered and beaten into looking like shit for a month or so.
