In other news the queefing and vitriol over the potential judge picks are all over the place. The lady has flaws and is sooo Catholic she is pissing off atheist and Godless liberals, and one of the guys has a bad judgement record and a soft spot for immigrants.

The big picture is that we get someone (hopefully a man) that is more conservative than Kennedy by a factor of 1000. You guys know me, I am not a fan of the heresy called Catholicism. I do not care if a judge thinks an illegal on soil has the right to due process or sue (a good wall should keep that from happening anyway), what I do care about is the future and tipping the scales in favor of slowing down the degenerate rot.

We should be thinking long game here. Either of the 2-3 judges will be decent enough I suppose.

Now. All that aside. If Clarence Thomas or one of the others retire, Trump needs a stone cold conservative to put into that slot. Failure to do that, and it will fuck up court balance. It is not realistic to put another Scalia in EVERY slot. There are just not that many judges or legal minded people in the country. Also, too many hardasses isn't good either. A decent spread of conservative minded judges should do well.

This would explain his non-resignation while still prepping for death quislingness.

I predict Hardiman.

He was the runner-up for Scalia’s seat. Kavanaugh is potentially too closely associated to the Bush-era Republicans and is causing social conservatives some unease because of some of his rulings regarding abortion and Obamacare. Barrett, on the other hand, is the socon favourite, but that means that the three pro-choice Republicans may act to block her, and the margin is narrow enough as is. Hardiman likely represents a compromise choice, given the current balance of the Senate.

Barrett would have driven the left too crazy as she's already "prejudged" Roe v. Wade according to them. Probably was unsafe.

Hardiman, though, seemed to mainly be popular due to a hardscrabble upbringing. That's how we got Souter, guys. Cuckboy Souter wasn't even "sort of" a conservative like Kennedy and everyone assumed he was.

Let's be real now. A new judge is not going to automatically mean that Roe V Wade challenges will even make it to the court even next year. Might take a while, maybe even 5 years from now would not surprise me.

That said, once Kavanaugh gets in, that still makes the vote somewhat tight. If Amy replaces Ginsberg, that is a wrap. Liberals will screech and howl so hard the dead will wake up.

This is basically part 1 of an extremely nasty fight. I do not think they can get Brett in before November and the Senate might shut down until the end of the year. The Dems will have to filibuster even regular Senate Business just to keep motions for Brett from seeing the floor.

If Senators Mitch and Hatch want Brett to go through before the elections, they likely will need to use nuclear option and squash debate for all non judicial floor business.

Those female senators are another issue. If they are weary of Roe v Wade issues or stubborn about it, that means they do not have the votes and November will have to settle it. Unless of course, Mitch can offer them a log rolling offer they cannot refuse or show them polling data from their districts that lend support. Still might not work. Women are still women....

Either way do not be surprised if the Senate is damn near shut down until November.
