This year and in 2008, there have been talks of starting new parties in America due to the popular talking point that the losing party would go away.

I remembered a while ago, some Iraqi War Veterans started the Whigs back up and re branded the Whig party as the Modern Whig Party. It was mostly due to the partisanship going on between the Democratic led Congress and Senate and President Bush. They seem to have websites, but they haven't really won any major national elections.

There had also been another article I read on reviving the Federalist Party that turned into the author's wish for the Republican Party to die back in 2016.

Could a dissolved political party ever make a real comeback or is it just a pipe dream?

No, I was just observing them getting revived and wondering if a dissolved political party could really make a comeback.

No, parties are going to just morph. If you want to change the political landscape you have to work within one of the major parties. That's what the Tea Party was doing before it got sabotaged. That's what Mr. Trump is doing now.

With any luck, the Republican party will continue to morph over the next 8-10 years.

Most voters are low information voters. Only a small fraction of the voting public really follows politics. So the lack of name recognition alone is enough to doom the rise of a new party, whether it's a revival or a whole new thing. There are plenty of third parties. They're basically irrelevant. Any new/revived party would just be another third party nobody will vote for.

Good point on most voters being low information. Most of them just seemed to be swayed by propaganda and don't really think. Like my friends who think Trump is the reincarnation of Hitler but don't really care that their candidate, Bernie Sanders, got sabotaged by Hillary. They never even heard of Wikileaks, just what the media tells them.

I did watch the debate for the Libertarian Party for 2016 and some of the candidates who were debating, where did they come from? I wouldn't trust them to drive me to places. There was also that fat guy stripping for some reason at the convention I don't know why.

I didn't look into the Green Party because they're like the progressive free newspapers that pop up in coffee shops. They hate Democrats for being corporate friendly and not being liberal enough, but think Republicans are the cause of everything wrong with the country.

Reactionary Expat ,who I highly recommend on youtube, has talked about these nuances and why they cannot work. Politics should be seen as a tool for a healthy society, not a end all be all. Times and people change, as do their needs to a certain degree.

The best example I can think of trying to relaunch failed political ideals/movements was the DNVP.

It's not unheard of for extremely marginal political parties to regain power, but it's exceedingly rare for dead parties to be revived with any chance of success.
