Red palm oil
The jar says its unrefined and organic, superfood, non-GMO, and all that good stuff

Anybody else try this stuff? If so what do you think?

It tastes kinda weird but Ive been taking a spoonful each day, along with other oils too...

I think its good stuff. Its probably something I will continue taking, but Im unsure how to incorporate it into foods...

RE: Red palm oil
Is there anything beneficial in it other than tocotrienols, and if not, wouldn't you get more bang for your buck buying an extract of those? I've been taking the pills for a few months to stimulate hair growth, not a noticeable difference so far but I'll give it another couple.

I dont have data to back up whether it is healthy or not but the writing on the jar claims to be high in vitamins A and E

RE: Red palm oil
I take unrefined coconut oil, unrefined olive oil, this red palm oil, and fermented cod liver oil with high vitamin butter oil. I usually take them all together while eating, I layer the oils in, and also apply oils to my food when I can. But i have not figured out how to incorporate this red palm oil into anything yet. It tastes a little bit different.

RE: Red palm oil
I was curious if I was getting ripped off on my pills so crunched the numbers.

Livestrong
Quote:One tablespoon of processed palm oil contains 120 calories and 13.6 grams of fat, of which approximately 50 percent are saturated, 40 percent are monounsaturated and 10 percent are polyunsaturated. This amount of palm oil also contains 2.17 mg of vitamin E and 1.1 mcg vitamin K. Fresh red palm oil also contains beta carotene in relatively high amounts.

The RDA for vitamin E is 20mg per day, although supplements commonly contain 10 times this amount, so you'd have to eat 1200 calories of this oil to get 100% daily intake.

Palm is 70% tocotrienols 30% tocopherols. The tocotrienol supplement pills contain 50 mg each (3000 calories of oil equivalent). These are probably extracted from the oil during refining and would otherwise be waste, so cost efficiencies are passed on to the purchaser. As far as carotenoids, it's a safe bet you'll get more of those taking a bite out of a carrot or a decent multivitamin.

It's a decent product but if you're after the actual nutrients in it there are lower calorie, cheaper ways to get them.
