Can someone please give me the basics of using the search function?

It does not seem to produce anything I am trying to find. I'm sure I am
just horking it up. I'm not THAT computer stupid (I hope..)


For example) If I search "how to add reputation points", I get a whole
bunch of responses... but none that are remotely close to answering the query?

The search function is not designed to answer queries like yours. It just returns posts that contain the words you searched for.

RVF search function is very useful. You should carefully use a key word or key words that will bring up search results as thread titles (the better choice in my experience) or key words in individual posts (which will take some time to work through).

The search function here is not the same as using yahoo answers for example, which is what I assume you were hoping for .
