Don't live in fear, you're far stronger than you know.
After a recent break up of a very long relationship I have struggled like everyone does but feel like I'm coming out of it now.

This seems to have stirred some reflection today about life but also on some of the thinking within the manosphere in general so I thought I'd share it.

One of the good things to come out of my breakup was another reminder of just how resiliant I actually am and the same is true of the vast majority of people really.

But something I have previously picked up on in the manosphere however is a tendency in a lot of people toward unhelpful fear based thinking and behaviour.

You hear them talk in apocalyptic terms of "family's getting nuked from orbit" if the wife cheats, divorce "rape", this shit or that shit "will ruin your life", the evil feminine imperitive etc etc.

The danger in thinking this way is you become so risk averse, you end up sitting on the sidelines while life passes you by.

It seems like they believe if they can plot and plan enough and acquire enough knowledge and make all the right choices or can just pick the right girl, they hope to walk on water through life without getting wet.

It won't happen!

While I'm not advocating being reckless, you just can't control other people or events so in the end you just gotta grab your balls, crack on and take your chances like everyone else.

The chips will fall where they will, just know that you are a man and will handle it come what may.

Better to play offensive for the most part and actually make choices to direct your life and take the opportunities and risks that come than defensive, passively reacting to avoid perceived threats and hesitating in the face of opportunity.

Yes we all know people who live miserable lives after things went wrong for them at some point but that is more to do with their mindset and habitual ways of dealing with life's setbacks than the events themselves.

For those who think this way, just look around you, see the children playing and laughing in the ruins of their bombed out city, see the guy enjoying a date with a new girl after a being dumped, see the guy looking forward to his first day at a new job after a layoff and know that people adapt easily and move on from shit.

So will you.

Negative, fear based thinking and the ever shrinking comfort zone of inaction and lost time this brings is the real threat to our lives, not a divorce or break up, a business failure or job loss or any 'wrong' choice you may make.

So smile! you're a man with life in your balls, opportunity in front of you and NOTHING to fear cause ya gonna die anyway!

Mostly like.

My opinion? A man should enjoy the world from a position of power.

I am no monk. I am happiest when I am the biggest gorilla in the troop. I am second happiest when under the command of an exceptional gorilla. All else is chaos and I cannot abide it.

And here I am regretting my fantasy football lineup for this week.

Yes, bad shit will happen, but regardless, "this too shall pass".

Take risks. Take control. Exercise your will.

And don't draft Adrian Peterson in the first round.

'A man should enjoy the world from a position of power'

Great insight, Leo. The humblest man, can find positions of leverage, to better his own life. The best example I can think of was 50's comeback after he was blacklisted by the sissy music industry after his little misfortune.
I recommend his book, 'The 50th Law' for men on this forum.
