Some friends I know who reside in Toronto work for minimum wage at fast food outlets, and they still end up on welfare because the rent eats up their monthly pay.

One of my friends share a floor of a house (rents a room for himself) for around 700$ a month, but he works at maximum 35 hours a week and earns approximately 300$ a week after deductions, but after taking out rent, he is left with approximately 500$ left, and if you deduct TTC metropass he uses to go to work, he only has around 300$ left for food and other expenses.

On the other hand, 1,200$ a month would make one live quite comfortably in Montreal. Rent for an apartment for one person is around 400$ a month if you can find the right locations in Montreal, and it isn't a crime-ridden place like paying almost 900$ a month rent for a 1-bedroom near Jane-Finch in Toronto.

I met a girl from Montreal awhile back, she lived in a house in Laval with a swimming pool by herself. The rent was like $400 per month.

$800 per month for a townhouse sounds like paradise to me, if you own it you can rent out the other rooms for cheap. If you are leasing it you can sub lease it out as well.

The real ugly truth about Toronto is the job market, it sucks balls. As you rightly said a lot of people are not making money and are living close to the poverty line.

The math does not add up, the average salary is $45000. Can't exactly do much with that now. I also read that personal debt, not including mortgages or rent is like $20000 per person.

When I was studying in downtown Toronto, before being subjected to the wave of misandry and man-hating Anglo elitism, on campus, the intro. rent for student housing near University of Toronto was around 770$ a month, and near Ryerson University at Church Street was around 830$ a month. This was in 2014 dollars, and student housing might be more "dorm-like" than renting an entire apartment.

Lots of things have changed in Canada in 2015 and 2016 like Beta Bucks doing bidding wars under the command of Wifey, paying as much as over 300,000$ over-asking on a 1-storey bungalow in North York which was already listed in the upper 500k range, and from that trend, I did some social experiments and walked through these overpriced neighbourhoods, and it was apparent that I was not wanted there despite these areas being suburban in Toronto.

It was not until an American guy I knew was complaining about the same thing in his area Manhattan-Harlem with all of them Yuppies infiltrating Harlem with their offers of twice the rental rates in Harlem, thus kicking out the poor people, but with a string attached; which is that many of these same Yuppies do not want any "ghetto" people living near their overpriced gentrified apartments and condos; something just like Toronto, but more people speak out about it because of American history. This is exactly why some places in Toronto like Regent Park are becoming "gentrified" at the same time when Yuppies and SJWs demand a police state to protect their feewings and inflated property values.

Speaking about Montreal, those Hippies and anarchists literally would create havoc if they knew that their area was to be "gentrified" with Yuppies and champagne liberal snobs.

I don't have that much knowledge about the job market in Toronto, but I do have some knowledge of the Public Gov. Sector salary earnings approximate from the Ontario Sunshine List. I doubt that even 5% of these Sunshine List people are in the 18-27 age group:

1. Medical doctor earns approximately 180,000$ to 375,000$ per year averae. Specialists get paid higher.

2. TDSB school administrator average pay is around 115,000$ to 140,000$ per year depending on tenure and experience.

3. Full-time Professor's average wage is approx. 165,000$ per year, but most high earners in Business and Medical designations earn more than 300,000$ per year.

You might notice that these high earners are mainly government sector tenured positions, like in the movie Animal Farm where the Pig Class hold most of the wealth, while the rest of animals work in deplorable conditions to enrich the Pig Class.

Any 18-30 year-old male who thinks that he is going to even earn at least 30,000$ a year in Toronto upon moving is taking a lottery chance, unless he got transferred somewhere else to work in a branch company in Toronto.

Montreal salaries are lower, but it reflects on the lower cost of living. If a min.wage Montreal-er was to live under a high cost of living in the tenured Government class, he would already have revolted long time.

There must be some hidden form of tyranny in Ontario which makes min.wage underemployed/unemployed Toronto people have to be content earning 800$ a month part-time to pay for rent which costs at least 1,100$ a month because of economic disparity between the poor working class and the upper classes. I heard that Toronto welfare system pays around 500$ a month, but rent alone in Toronto is at least 600$ a month for a room in an accessible part of Toronto, and the welfare office requires that the person meet with a social worker at least three or four times a month to be under strict conditions around 700 rules and regulations alone I think..

Basically, if you're poor in Toronto, you got to surrender your freedom of movement and privacy just to get a "welfare cheque" which will barely pay your rent (and that is if landlords will want to rent their apartments at Jane-Finch to an unemployed man because "gentrification"), and having to meet a social worker, who is most likely an SJW, on a regular basis to stain your dignity because you can't be hired because of reverse discrimination.

$30,000/year is shit pay in Canada anywhere you go. I was making that much working in a crappy call center job while I was studying in Montreal. Nowadays many young people continue earning that even after university since they can't find anything decent. I am well under 30 and nowadays I wouldn't dream of working in Canada for less than $65,000/year minimum with at least 25 days of vacation and private health insurance. For Toronto I would add a 30% premium to make up for the ridiculous rents. Finding well paid jobs without connections or recommendations is mission impossible, the job market is completely different compared to Poland where employers are chasing you.

Many of these universities in Toronto are always that prejudice towards people with Caribbean accent. They only want the Caribbean men to be emasculated in order to accept them, but that is for another thread.

I find that in Montreal, the Haitian men I've met haven't been "emasculated" or forced to sound like a woman or gay when interacting with the opposite gender, so it's proof that how it's messed up for these Toronto universities to portray themselves as being tolerant, but soon as a Caribbean accent is heard, a Canadian woman feels uncomfortable, and this leads to the victimization of the man just because of the accent he spoke.

I've lived in both cities. Toronto for ten years and montreal for six months. Both are absolute shit holes. Women wise I had luck in both places but thats exactly what it was, luck. Montreal is better than toronto, good public transit, good looking women (canadian standards) it is cheaper but salaries are also lower. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT MOVE TO CANADA. EVER. NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT ARCTIC WASTELAND!

Living downtown with 4 roomates, i pay 650 . just because it is a clean place.

MTL is not that cheap when you want a clean place.

Houses are usually cleaner and more modern in Toronto that is why they are more expensive.

Speaking of which, many Montrealers do pay around 450$-600$ a month rent for 1 and 2-bedrooms, which is definitely cheap as compared to other major cities in Canada. There is a downtown luxury market where hot money pay premium for apartments along the Vert Line which is considered more of a tourist area than in the outlying areas on the Orange Line, etc.

If you're renting in downtown Montreal, as in near Mc Gill and Concordia universities, anywhere along the Vert Line from Concordia to Peel, you will definitely pay premium because of the influx of hot money and demand from non-resident students and "hard earned" money from Asia which needs to be parked in Canada.

Paying 600$ a month rent for a room in the Anglo-elitist downtown part of Montreal is still considered cheap if you compare room rent near Ryerson University around 850$ and University of Toronto around 700$-900$ per month.

Nowhere in Toronto will you ever find apartments going from 400$ per month unless it's a room which is around 500$+ a month

I'm not here to give free advertising to landlords, but the average rent prices between Montreal and Toronto are easily comparable. Toronto rent prices are higher because of artificial demand from immigrants and "hard-earned" money from legitimate foreign businesses, and the false hope that newcomers can find high paying jobs in Toronto, but instead they have to work min. wage jobs and pay over 900$ a month rent for a 1-bedroom in a cockroach, crime-infested part of Toronto.

Recently in St. Henri part of Montreal , anarchists behaved anarchy to the gentrified stores because the tenant rents were rising in that area because of Yuppies and non-residents. Such protests would rarely happen in Toronto because the Anglo culture is one of compliance and conformity.
