Can someone who picks up a few girls a week in bars shine some light on the practical implications of all the media discussions on consent? Are there practical issues and cultural differences compared to Europe I should be aware of?

I define consent as a willingness to participate in whatever we doing. Pretty common sense if you ask me. When I hear "no", "stop" or she pushes me away, that's when I stop. (but the last time this happened before sex is a long time ago, if she wants to reject me she does within the first ten minutes of talking)

Is this modus operandi enough to avoid legal problems? Especially dealing with impulsive girls in bar crowds who may regret their decisions or behaviour the next morning? Is audio recording a part of the interaction where she clearly states consent recommended? Are there other precautions I should take?

I would be surprised if guys really change their behavior very much regarding this, except maybe to incorporate some pick up lines to play around with the topic. The audio recording could be made a bit funny, but who knows whether it would give sufficient protection? Sometimes certain actions and behaviors can create protections even when they are not legally binding because they kind of ensure folks are, more or less, on the same page.

Like you said, just from the interaction, you can get a pretty good sense regarding whether women are consenting or if they are being tricky with you.

I am a bit paranoid on this topic especially after reading about the recent incidents regarding a couple of footballers in England who both although morally redundant were no criminals by any stretch.
I always save the chicks pre date slutty flirty texts and send / provoke confirmation texts right after on my way back via WhatsApp and then mail the entire conversation saved on my email. WhatsApp does a one click service for it.
Most of the times when the bitch flakes to get you into trouble is often a day or so after when the social pressure or guilt sinks in. While audio proof might hold up in some courts of law given how ridiculously biased the judicial system is in favour of women in these cases and circumstances, shooting video proof with small hidden cameras might be worth considering. A small go pro hidden under a decorational camouflage in the flat does the trick and can secure audio and video alibi. However you risk getting done for filming without consent in that case which is still better and a less punishable offence.

Dude I wouldn't worry about this. My only advice is not to take a girl home that is drunk. By Drunk I mean slurring speech, having problems standing unassisted, etc. She may not remember how she got to your place or what you guys did the next morning.

There may be circumstances in which the facts seem that a girl is too drunk to consent, but I would not place a blanket rule upon myself regarding such situations. Maybe also an appropriate question would be whether you met the chick as she is already stumbling over drunk or if she willingly put herself into such a drunken status while in your presence? There are several other factors too, including her age, whether she is with friends, and maybe some of her behavior at various lucid moments..and maybe even your drunken state is likely going to be a factor, even though some of these legal entities seem to selectively forget that probably half of the population of rural america came from drunken states of being of both parties.

I also don't want to poo poo the whole idea regarding a chick's ability to consent, but many of us already know that some girls are not going to give it up, unless you get a few drinks in them. And, many of us know that some of these new legal developments regarding ability to consent seem to be going quite over the top in their nonsense ability to be arbitrarily enforced.

In the end, each of us will need to determine the extent to which we believe that we are taking too many chances because a girl appears that she might not be capable of consenting due to her drunkeness.. I would hate to miss an opportunity, merely because I had imposed some kind of nonsense blanket rule upon myself in internalizing too much of these unrealistic standards.

1) Mentioned being abused or raped in the past.
2) Just seemed very eccentric, over or under reacting emotionally to various stimuli/situations.

4) Discuss turbulent, on-and-off or conflicted relationships in their life.

Actually I've consulted an attorney who is my friend. He specializes in rape and self defense cases. A good guy to have in your phone book.

You have to be careful. I usually record at least a 30 second clip with the girl telling me to fuck her or something like that. That is probably your safest bet. He did state that the conditions for rape have to be there and have to be clear to a detective for charges to be brought. Did she text you after? What did it say? What time did she go to your place? Were there any witnesses? Did you stop by a store with cameras that saw her clearly holding on to you.

Or cameras in your house. I haven't had any problems yet and have been in some crazy situations. To be safe, get a video of you and her having a good time with it being clear she can leave whenever she wants.

-Any with signs of NPD, BPD, or other mental disorders. You can set-up a hidden camera easily in your bedroom that auto uploads to a secured personal server.

One key thing you need to be aware of is that video recordings legally can be viewed in a different light as oppose to audio recordings. Even audio recordings in some places in your home without consent is illegal but you have to weigh the cost/benefit with regards to what you are comfortable with.

With an video recording, you also run the risk of yourself, your junks, and the woman you bang being easily identified in case of a video leak; which will be on the internet FOREVER. A woman is also more likely to sue you if you banged her out and a video of her getting railed by you (that she didn't know about) shows her naked body ends up on the internet for whatever reason. She can't save face or hide easily from it. It's a lot easier to hide away from an audio recording. First, there is NOTHING wrong with covering your ass that goes beyond just screening chicks. That one time you cover your ass could save your professional and personal life. With modern technology, it's super easy and cheap to protect yourself.

If you are chasing chicks in a bar (which the OP said he planned on doing), screening a chick effectively could be difficult given the limited time table to filter (the OP isn't going on a full date with a chick sober), if you and/or the other person is intoxicated a bit, and you are not experienced or familiar with what to look for (the OP implied he wasn't experienced with the target culture).

Also, the precautions I listed are not only applicable to false rape accusations (which are rare) but more common stuff like false DV/assault charges. The latter charges can still be very devastating to one's professional and personal life. Even a MISDEMEANOR conviction of domestic violence can strip you of your right to own a gun FOR LIFE.

Furthermore, good luck getting a job involving children (teacher), working in sensitive positions (like nursing, police, military), or a visa to certain countries (Canada) with a DV/assault conviction.

The reason I started this thread that I have had situations lately were I:
- Had a really fast bang. - research on borderline personality disorder, this is very prevalent and odds are you will run into a girl who has it. it is very difficult to diagnose but if you see common traits and themes resonating with what you have read prob best to move on
- avoid girls that are drama-prone. for some reason drama seems to follow certain people. avoid them

- doesn't ask you to put on a condom first time...RUN fast
- has condoms in her drawers, prob don't hit it
- caution with chicks over 32- why are they still single?
- eating disorders. run
- she's crazy into you after just a date or too... run
- she buys you gifts after a few dates...run
- do not mess with a chick who is drunk or high
- pay attention to neurotic or compulsive behavior
- if you can meet her friends first its even better. get a sense of who they are and if they might stir trouble
- ask a chick about her ex casually. A mature chick won't badmouth her ex, she might say something like "...it didn't work out..." If she calls her exes horrible names, profanity- she is likely crazy
- short hair, weird dressing, odd colored hair/piercing/excessive tats
- i never ONS a girl. Its cool when you are in college but after the price is too high to pay if shit goes sour
- research on borderline personality disorder, this is very prevalent and odds are you will run into a girl who has it. it is very difficult to diagnose but if you see common traits and themes resonating with what you have read prob best to move on
- avoid girls that are drama-prone. for some reason drama seems to follow certain people. avoid them

As someone mentioned- no chicks are worth the hassle and the stress no matter how hot. The odds of this happening is rather low IF you screen well

With that checklist, I would be so busy running that I would never get laid, maybe like Forest Gump.
