In the past few days, I've heard limousine liberal commentators say "He was only wrestling with the cop -- they didn't need to shoot him!" How far gone is our society that it's OK to "wrestle with a cop" and think he's not going to get angry?

Let's take this out of the realm of cop vs. citizen.

The ONE AND ONLY TIME I was ever called into HR as a newspaper reporter was when some a-hole guy from the graphic design dept. put his hands on me. I instinctively reacted violently. I was in an aisle and he decided to physically "move" me. Without thinking, I swung around and pushed his ass back about ten feet. Luckily, I didn't get fired. I was 24.

But the main point is that I didn't think. I just did. He touched. I freaked out. Funny enough, I am not a big guy at all and was not armed like cops are. Yet my instincts went into overdrive and I was still primed for a fight. This is called "human nature."

Now, transfer this situation to citizen vs. cop. Cops are not machines. They're human like you and me. They get angry like you and me and act on instinct like I did. Putting your hands on them is basically asking for a fight -- or worse. Don't do it.

Yes it fucking does.

Felons, parolees, and people on probation CANNOT buy/sell/own guns.

This means he bought his gun ILLEGALLY and it was probably a dirty gun.

Being a FELON, you cannot conceal carry or open carry.


ALL of this could of been avoided if he had NOT been carrying a gun in the first place.


How could people not fucking see that ?

Actually it would've been avoided if he hadn't brandished his gun, if things went as I understand them. Brandishing a gun is a crime, felon or not.

I think it is insane to have people out in society who cannot be trusted with a gun. If they can't be trusted with a gun, why are they not in prison?

As far as I'm concerned, ongoing punishment by stripping people of rights after they've served their time is utterly immoral and nonsensical. Either keep them locked up, or release them to rejoin us as citizens with full rights.

They are the only days this year that someone hasn't been killed by police. Out of the over 600 incidents so far this year, how many of them "deserved" it? How many were white/black/Hispanic/Asian? How many were men? How many were children? How many had a deadly weapon? How many had a toy weapon? How many resisted arrest? How many were women? How many had a warrant? How many were innocent? How many were mentally ill?
How many have you researched?

It's quick and easy to share videos, but takes time to have an educated opinion.

Are names like this common in the mainland? Do you just make up something and call your kid that?

From what I can tell by going through the news stories linked on the site you posted (Killed By Police) most of the people killed were either armed, violent, resisting arrest, or led cops on a chase.

Sample sentence from one of these news stories (involving a white guy from Brooklyn): "According to the NYPD, that's when the driver of a 2016 Kia EX exited his vehicle -- with a 5-month-old inside -- and punched the officer's head through an open driver's side window."

Now here is my opinion: There is a subset of the population that treats people like shit and/or is out of control. We have to deal with these people every day and can usually avoid them.

But one day one of these rude, out-of-control people comes up against a cop. Then he (or she) winds up dead.

You can treat your fellow citizens like crap. You can get drunk and beat them up. You can steal from them. You can run over their kids with your car. But when you do that with a cop, it ends badly.

We no longer live in the polite, tip-your-hat society of the 1950s. This is not Donna Reed world. A lot of people are out of control for one reason or another. On top of that, there are more and more people. As the population rises, it stands to reason arrests from cops and, yes, killings by them will rise. Wonder if the rate of murders by cop fell per capita from 1950 till now?

Back to my main point, just the other day I saw some fat, bald guy doing spastic dances in the supermarket (with his moron girlfriend laughing like a hyena) trying to create a fuss. He was clearly very drugged out.

I left the scene. But the cop who was called in didn't have that option. He had to deal with this big, fat blob of a man who was stoned out of his mind and getting crazy.

As for racial breakdowns, this is the Washington Post's racial breakdown as to who was killed by police.

Noone has any ideas where these names come from. They aren't based on any kind of culture or real african roots. I've never heard a person from Africa with the name "Shaneequa" or "Shanaynay" either. Plus i've never seen actual black Africans sport faux Egyptian names claiming they were descendants of ancient kings or something.

I'm going to guess the name Alizee is probably some kind of ghetto homage to the liquor. Maybe the other kid is named Hennessy.

To expand on one of your points, someone once asked me why so many of us cops were dicks. I answered "Have you ever met someone that was such an unbelievable asshole that just briefly dealing with him ruined your entire day? My job is that when someone runs into such an asshole, they call ME to go deal with him. My entire day revolves around dealing with the biggest assholes you ever met, all day every day". Nietsche once said "Stare long enough into the abyss and the abyss will stare back into you.". If you stare into enough assholes, you tend to become more of an asshole. This is a multi-layered metaphor in my profession, because when you run into a big enough asshole, you have to arrest them, which includes a strip search, and...you guessed it...staring up his asshole. Nothing good ever comes from staring up another man's asshole.

I have seen those kill numbers by race before, however they are certainly skewed when we take into account US demographics.

According to the 2010 census, the US is 63.7% non-hispanic White, 12.2% non-hispanic Black, and 16.3% Hispanic.

So if we count the White number of 494 shootings as the basis, we should have a total of 494/0.637 = 100% people shot dead by police= 775.5 ~ 776, which is > 900

The black number should be (.122)(776) = 94.67 ~ 95 blacks shot dead by police, which is much less than the 258 actual number.

Number of hispanics shot dead by cops should be (.163)(776) ~126 people killed, which is less than the real 172 number.


Now, there are two major problems with this analysis.

1) The demographics are 2010 numbers, and we are using 2015 shooting numbers. Although, assuming that the proportion of Blacks and Hispanics has changed, it will not be enough to significantly change these numbers.

2) If we are to say that certain races are treated differently only due to appearance, and not due to behavior, then those hispanic numbers become a problem, because there exist white and black hispanics, not just brown. Those people should thus be placed under white or black, not hispanics, and this will change the numbers. But for now let us assume these numbers are generally correct.

Thus we find:

Blacks and Hispanics are killed disproportionately more by cop killings. Blacks are killed 272% more than whites in comparison to their fraction in the total population, and hispanics are 137%. Thus Blacks are killed about twice as much disproportionately by cops than even hispanics.

Ofcourse, these numbers do not take into account anything at all about the people being shot, or about the communities in general.

We can reach a few alternate conclusions, because it is a FACT that the races are disproportionately killed:

1) Cops are racist. In fact 1.36 times more racist against hispanics, and 2.7 times more racist against blacks.

2) There is something about black and hispanic communities (and the people in those communities) that makes them more susceptible to be shot and killed by cops. It can also be that their behavior makes police more susceptible to be nervous around them, thus leading to a higher kill rate.

3) Or, connected to conclusion 2, it can be that policing these communities is desired by more trigger happy policemen - or the converse, that more responsible policemen, who are less likely to get nervous, do not wish to police these communities, and would rather work in predominantly white communities.
