The meetup.com singles groups in my area (South Florida) just received their notices of closing emails last night. Lot's of folks are getting quite pissed off and there is no good competitor to go to here. I think the local organizers will create "social" groups to avoid meetup.com's anti-singles groups policy.

Yeah, the hatred of folks like me is starting to make me very angry. I know I am very awkward in the dating scene and I'm trying to do something about it. I've developed some good personas for most social interaction, but I'm still terrible at the mating game and I know it. That's why I look for some help in learning the basics of PUA, just reading books and Internet posts isn't enough. Instead, feminists and SJWs think people like me shouldn't be allowed to walk the streets.

For a long time, I had similar questions. If women *really* want to date masculine, fit, decisive men who can hold a good conversation and make them laugh, then why is men studying to become that kind of man a bad thing?

Women love "naturalness" and hate fakes. They love power and hate weakness. They will fuck a thug in a heart beat. But a guy they think is pretending to be a thug? Naw. That pretending looks artificial and weak to them. (This is an important distinction. Do most men demand authenticity before putting our dicks in? Right, of course not).

I think most women don't believe that men can learn to become men. They think you either *are* a man, or you're not. Which, when you think of their experience, makes sense--besides being born with a vagina, what do you have to accomplish to be considered a woman?

Hence, to most women, "Game" is men pretending they are something that they aren't. If you pay attention, when they talk about "Game" its usually within the context of men "lying" instead of just being charming/funny/jerkish. I think that's why all these feminist-leaning media outlets are OK shitting on the Manosphere (the one resource many men have for learning how to be a man). Because from their perspective, most of the men involved on it are just fake losers. And since self-improvement isn't part of their constitution (it doesn't have to be, remember, they have vaginas, so they will always be valuable), those fake losers will always be fake losers, so fuck them. The "real men" don't need that Manosphere bullshit.

Yeah. Usually the singles groups sucks. You're much better off going to a hiking or yoga group or book club.

I have been to several of them. I actually had a pleasant time at all of them even if I didn't find any women that I wanted to date. They have all been a nice social outing.

Mind you, I avoid Karaoke. It is evil and soul destroying.

Recently discovered Meetup.com and was half-considering setting up a group to meet with some like-minded individuals in my hometown for daygame. Lo and behold.

Any decent alternative sites? The forum isn't great if you aren't in a major US/UK/Aus city.

I've done it.

The problem is within the first nanosecond that you poke your head in there you'll know if there's anyone even bangable. If there isn't, from that point onward you're gonna want to go home, but it's too rude to do so, and so you just blow a couple hours of your life on group smalltalk.

Once everyone realizes nobody else in the room is worth pursuing, it sort of devolves into sad sack woe-is-me stories.

It's okay if you want to build a casual social circle out of random people but the odds of hooking up with someone directly through the event is slim.

It's better to go to a group about a common interest, or an interest you can fake that you suspect has hot chicks.

I have multiple meetup.com flags. A few years ago I'd go to them pretty regularly, singles mixers. You would bump into some of the same people there. This was in LA, so quality was still ok and venues were cool.

There were a few pub crawl type things and just happy hours and mixers, you had to go early otherwise you'd go in there and everyone already got clique'd up in groups.

They really have a lot less of the Singles mixer groups, there would be like 2 or 3 per week, now its like 2 or 3 per month.

I would (and do) tend to stay away from anything branded as a singles group, whether it's meetup.com, church socials or whatever. Branding it as "singles" both raises the pressure of the event and implies that everyone attending couldn't meet mates through other social channels.

If they're doing a cool event it's worth the dip, but the generic pub crawl/happy hour events usually turn out to be frat parties on location - with lower talent levels.

I started a free outdoors meetup group with recurring weekend events that quickly bloomed into hundreds of members. To bad I never went to many of my own events, because I moved after a month. People still message me to say they’re awesome. No one ever wants to take over the group though. It’s like $60/6 months to admin. Wonder what Meetup will do with the group once I stop paying. Seems dumb.

Depends on location. Lots of young girls attend meetups in foreign cities. Nice mix of locals and tourists. Have had plenty of college girl bangs from Meetups in Asia. Those girls were definitely there to meet romantic foreigners and pursued me too. They came from different prefectures to attend the meetups!

In SA/NA quality is little better than Couchsurfing social events. Probably because unlike Asia no decent girl needs to go to a meetup to meet a young white guy. We’re messaging them by the hundreds on tinder and stopping them in the street. Any girl at a western Meetup is probably gonna be some hipster with no friends or old/ug. Though I’ve been hiking in LA and met some OK girls.

I've never used Meetup for women, always for hobbies and other activities when I was new in a city.

Without fail, 90-95% of the people at every Meetup I went to were socially awkward rejects.

Going to a Meetup is often a signal that you can't make friends any other way.

Since the OP, the condition of dating apps has deteriorated and for many men, online game is SA or bust.

The anti-PUA and anti speed dating rules should be irrelevant for us.

The western dating market is moving away from direct, cold approach game so singles’ events should be avoided and activity and social events attended.

After divorce 5 or 6 years ago I went to a few "bar " type meet ups ..They had them in VIP areas.Suits would gang up on me ,chicks not that great and you'd be tainted with "his with the singles group" by the rest of the bar/club.
I got a few numbers but not my types.
The white knighting is so bad that I'll never go to one every again.
The language ones are really protective too

If you’re putting women first in any aspect of your life (which was the flaw in the PUA mindset), then going to meet up social is probably going to be counter productive.

If you’re living in a city where you don’t have a social circle like me, then you’ve more need for associates and acquaintances than another notch. Put the horse before the cart and women will appear in social events.

Yes even designated singles’ events seem to be too direct for women these days, especially when the sex ratio is skewed to reduce men’s values in addiction to the DLV associated with being single.

I looked at the woman only groups in my area yesterday. They look like daygame lèvel women while the singles have the online dating look.

I used to think that too, but lately I've found a few good meet ups with really great prospects. These ones are good:

- Any open Salsa dancing meetup, the girls there usually are dressed up, feminine, fit and high status.
- Language Cafe's where internationals try to learn each others languages, they are great for finding expats who aren't settled in the city yet.
- General internationals meet ups: these can be decent, main benefit is large number of people, also sometimes they organize theme parties.

I’m quite surprised at how many girl only groups there are near me. There are attractive women in these networks which have an international reach.

These groups are useful to see which mixed groups women are members of.
