Kitesurfing has too much gear involved, and regular surfing emphasizes the wave much more than the wind. I find being in the water more enjoyable when there's plenty of ground swell not so much wind, unless it's blowing straight offshore. I respect the kitesurfing guys, but I have no interest in kitesurfing after having tried it a couple times.

I paddled out this morning at pipe.

Today was only for little kids, about chest highs.

That is a gorgeous wave. I just cruised and watched it. Saw some seven year olds get barreled. Also, lots of turtles in the water.

I didnt get any waves, but still a great morning.

I kite-surf, wind-surf and surf and I enjoy each of them. I am with SeanBateman as I enjoy the emphasis of the wave (and I love to fly and sail) while being immersed in the ocean. I am more connected to life with pure surfing.

It is easier to do a 360 on a wave with a steep peak and not much wall down the line, or when you come around a section that has a steep pocket to carve into.

Speed is the key for the 360 and pivot on your tail, NOT on the rail (as it is not a turn), when you are halfway around put your weight on your front foot and keep spinning (if you keep pressure on the tail your rotation will stop and/or your tail will catch the wave and you will wipeout. You may also want to consider a shorter board, fins toed (angled) in more.

Any job i take is predicated on having flexible hours basically letting me take any morning off anytime there's surf here since we get so little of it in NY/NJ. I basically schedule my work/social life each week around the forecast on swellinfo.com every sunday evening. I'm taking better care of myself physically (lifting, yoga, diet) just so when we get those rare epic storms, my body will be ready.

Why is it such a high priority for me?, it's hard to explain, it's just being addicted to that physical sensation of feeling all that water shoot under your feet, that nice fully extended bottom turn you take after you drop, that shit-eating grin you get after getting covered…These physical experiences are just impossible to replicate outside the water.
