I started a RVF channel on Telegram, which I recently recommended you use for coordinating meetups. Right now channels only let the creator send messages, so I plan on using it to send links to worthy posts and important updates. It'll also be important in emergencies.

It's safe. It's run by a Russian dissident who was forced to sell social networking site VK to the state because he refused to allow the government to monitor users. He started Telegram to be resistant to government intrusion.

So turns out that channels are for broadcast only.

I highly recommend RVF friends/groups to start their own Telgram groups, which allow everyone to send a message. If RVF goes offline, you'll still be able to communicate.

how should we go about coordinating invites and vetting and all this. I'm tempted to just start one and begin inviting dudes but I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

I'd really like to get in on a couple of the area tribes, a professional network type group is tempting as well.

It will be city-based, organized out of public view. Start with meeting someone from your city and go from there.

Installing it now. I saw your post a while ago, but hadn't gotten around to checking out telegram.
