I work on a public setting in my small university and with it comes multiple opportunities to interact with hot chicks as they come for help. Because of this job, I made sure that I looked "presentable."

Oftentimes, I would get complimented (opened?) on my hair, my clothes, and esp. my neckpiece (I tell them it's called a "chick magnet" when they ask what it is and they usually laugh).

And when I do get the compliment, I usually say "thank you" and smile but don't know how to make a conversation thread out of it or continue the momentum, and get tongue-tied. Sometimes the interaction is legitimately short since they have to run to class or I have to help another customer, but other times...I don't know, it's "different" since I'm not the one opening them.

Thoughts, ideas, and angry reactions welcomed...

Depends on the setting you're in. If it's at work, chances are people are just trying to make small talk to improve working relations. If it's at a bar, chances are she's trying to get to know you, and you've got a green light. I can count on one hand how many times I've unintentionally lost a bang when a girl opened me at a bar.

Dude you work in a chick vortex.

You need to build up some self confidence real quick and start talking to these girls about ANYTHING. Get NUMBERS and start banging.

You're not going to be in that school environment forever. Take advantage while you can.

Why not say to these girls rolling in to your office:

"hey i'm tied up right now but meet me for a drink and we talk more".

Tell her, Listen I'm soooo busy right now. Can you please do me a favor?

She'll either say: sure. or what?

Pull out $5 or whatever and ask her to get you a coffee.
If it's a school cafeteria it's better. Ask her to make it
light and sweet, cream and sugar or whatever.

Point is make her work.

When she gets back with it tell her to have a seat with you for a minute somewhere.
Do a mini-date with her for as long as it takes to drink it or half of it.

Then say:
"I really gotta get back"
"I'll call you later"
"What's our number?"

You'll get it.
